The temple entrance itself was wholly stained with blood.

Naturally, the scene inside would be even more horrific.

“… I’ll go alone. It’s dangerous inside.”

At my words, Nias urgently grabbed onto me.

“I, I want to follow too.”

“I refuse. Pigs are a hindrance.”

“I told you I’m not a pig! I, I can be helpful. Earlier too…”

Nias said that much and then mumbled her words.

By ‘earlier,’ Nias meant… when Elena was cursed. If she knew the curse was coming, Nias could deflect it once or twice.

“No, I’ll go alone.”

After thinking momentarily, I grabbed Nias’ hand to detach it and spoke firmly.

The magic sword had already absorbed a considerable amount of sacred power.

The sword would exert tremendous power and might be challenging to confront.

I couldn’t bring Nias to such a place.

Actually, even if Nias didn’t know, Elena and Elin had to follow.

But… in that state…

“Please… take me.”

At that moment, Elena grabbed me with trembling hands.

“I have to see. What kind of villain would commit such acts. Why they would do such things.”

Tears of anger slowly flowed from Elena’s silver eyes.

Being good doesn’t mean not knowing anger.

Elena was angrier than ever, as if the emotions she had built up had exploded.

“Me too. I can’t let Elena go alone.”

Elin supported Elena.

“…Me too!”

Nias also clung to me again, riding on that.

My head throbbed when the three of them simultaneously looked at me, seeking permission.

But… leaving them outside was equally worrying.

I had to consider the possibility of the magic sword absorbing Elin and Elena’s sacred power.

In the original work, the magic sword that absorbed Elin’s sacred power boasted a power so great that even the protagonist struggled against it.

Of course, the two’s power was much weaker than that of Elin, who appeared in the original work.

‘What should I do…?’

“Y-Young Master… look!”

But at that moment, the corpses around us started to move, wriggling and raising their bodies.

Dripping blood from their entire bodies, wrapped in black energy, they staggered.

Seeing that spine-chilling sight, the other three, including myself, were momentarily frozen.

Clack. Clack. Clatter!

Making strange sounds, they were moving.

The fear felt at that moment when what was human became inhuman.

The moment they took a step, I sensed an extraordinary danger.

“…Has it already reached the point of raising the dead?”

The user of the magic sword Rukheld is mentally eroded by the Demon Dragon and becomes its subordinate.

That erosion progresses each time the magic sword offers the blood of sacred power users to the Demon Dragon.

As a reward for the erosion, various powers are granted, one of which is the power to raise the dead.

There were about six or seven.

Only those who died first outside the temple had risen for now.

Soon, even inside, those slain by the magic sword would rise and cause chaos.

“…Damn it. There’s no choice but to go inside.”

I let out a sigh.

“Alright. Everyone, be careful instead. Follow only me properly.”

Nias smiled brightly at my permission, as did Elena, whose complexion had become even darker.

Seeing the contrasting two, I gave a bitter smile.

The movement of the dead was still relatively slow.

Quickly turning our bodies to run away, the dead couldn’t follow us.

Entering inside, I started holding my breath due to the pungent stench of decay.

Blood was flowing everywhere.

Entering further in, the dead hadn’t risen yet as expected.

We had to carry out the search quickly.

At that moment,

“There’s something…”

Elena pointed to an empty space and spoke.

But the empty space was just filled with darkness and nothing else.

“What do you see? A ghost?”

“Ghost?”

Elin tilted her head in puzzlement.

“There is such a thing. So what is it?”

When I urged her, Elena opened her mouth with a pale complexion, stammering.

“I see letters. It seems to be a place of something.”

At Elena’s words, I realized.

The final lock Kift had placed.

It was set up so that only those acknowledged by the saintess could reach it.

Perhaps he had collaborated with the priests of Nephthys when hiding the weapon.

He probably intended to hand the sword only to a reasonable person acknowledged by the saintess of the chief god and good god Nephthys.

‘I heard Kift himself wasn’t that good of a person.’

Did he go senile in his later years?

“So where is it?”

“On the statue… mana…?”

The statue, huh.

There was no doubt it was an appropriate choice.

While other parts of the temple could all change, the statue that was considered sacred was not touched unless there was a good reason.

I approached the statue where a man had died leaning against it.

I infused the little remaining mana into the 5-meter-tall statue splattered with blood.

Rumble.

Then, the statue made a loud sound and started to move to the side.

Below the statue, a long passage leading underground was revealed.

Nias tightly grasped my arm, her eyes shining with unease.

Elin and Elena looked equally anxious.

“Let’s go.”

I spoke to the three and immediately moved my steps to the stairs.

There was no time to waste.

With such a loud noise, even that guy inside this temple must have heard it.

Holding an old magic lantern hanging on the wall, we hurried down for a while.

Only quiet footsteps echoed in the underground stairs, filled with dust and a strange heat.

And before long, we stood in front of a thick black door.

“…Those who wish to pass through here, do not lose faith. How old-fashioned.”

I glanced at the old inscription on the wall and muttered.

There was no time to be immersed in sentiments, so I hastily opened the door.

Inside the door was a vast, circular stone space.

Almost the entire space below the temple was used to create this area.

Strangely, plants were growing in this place where not a single ray of sunlight reached, and an unknown light was dimly illuminating the large room.

“It’s pretty! There are flowers blooming, and the air is fresh only here.”

“What is this place? Where is the light coming from?”

While Nias and Elin each remarked upon seeing the mystical space, I knew these were merely novel devices.

In the center of the space. On the platform, there was a sword in a white scabbard.

“Found it.”

I walked quickly towards it, panting.

Maybe it was just my feeling, but it seemed like an aura flowed from the sword.

“Is this the strongest sword…?”

I stared at the sword intently.

The strongest sword.

My heart swelled with excitement, forgetting the situation, as I saw firsthand the one called the strongest, which had only existed in the setting.

Feeling my heart pounding, I gently placed my hand on the sword.

The cold sensation conveyed by the sword placed here for a long time flowed through my hand to my entire body.

I felt like I could already sense the extraordinary power this sword possessed.

“So there was a place like this.”

The voice came from behind.

A man walked down, blood dripping from his sword.

A man with red hair, holding a sword flowing with magical energy.

A chill ran down my spine.

The magic sword, which had already absorbed the blood of nearly a hundred priests, contained an unimaginably powerful mana by amplifying that sacred power several times.

The man’s eyes, stained by that mana, had already been contaminated by the Demon Dragon’s mana, and even the whites of his eyes had turned black as if decayed.

“…I wondered what you were looking for, and it was just this kind of place? And that worn-out greatsword? The Demon Dragon told me this location and urged me to hurry. Hahaha!”

I see.

The Demon Dragon had already figured out the location of this strongest sword.

That’s what he had told Isaac.

But he didn’t know the specific location of the weapon.

‘So that’s how the setting was filled in. Damn you, world.’

I cursed the world and put strength into my hand, gripping the sword’s hilt.

As Isaac stepped into the grass, the surroundings were contaminated, and flower petals rotted and fell.

Now, his mana had reached the point of contaminating the surroundings just by existing.

“It’s ridiculous. To think that my clan’s legacy was scattered by these little brats.”

The darkened eyes glowed darkly.

The hatred felt in his words went far beyond the ordinary category.

“Are you Isaac? Seeing even the flowers rejecting you, it seems to be the case. You evil one.”

“Are you Elin?”

“No. I’m a member of those you trampled on. Your dark sins are watched by Lord Nephthys with those sacred eyes of light. Abandon that fundamental evil and repent!”

Elena put her hands together in a prayer posture and glared at Isaac.

Isaac looked at Elena and laughed as if finding it ridiculous.

“Judging by the way you talk, you must be that Elena. The Demon Dragon said you also became Nephthys’ saintess, but seeing you already talk like those disgusting seeds of Nephthys at such a young age makes my stomach churn. But know this clearly. The ones who first stained their hands with blood were Nephthys’ side. Not us. Let’s be precise about that.”

The man’s eyes reached Elin.

“Elin. Come. If you come alone, the other brats here will die relatively painlessly.”

With those words, magical energy flowed from Isaac’s sword.

Overwhelming power that shook the surrounding air and overwhelmed the whole body was released instantly.

Then, Elena collapsed, staggering.

Even if her sacred power was depleted, the ability to steal the power of holy power users still took effect.

“Ugh.. urgh…”

“Elena…!”

Embracing the powerless Elena, Elin bent her knees.

The man reached out his hand to Elin.

“Come.”

Just before answering,

Elin’s eyes briefly turned to me.

To her eyes that seemed to ask if it would be okay, I only gave a faint smile.

That seemed to be enough of an answer.

Turning her eyes back to Isaac, Elin opened her mouth as if cutting with a sharp sword.

“No.”

Instantly, the magic sword emitted a dark light again.

“Kyaaaah…!!!”

The sacred power is being sucked out of Elin’s body.

Due to that power, as the darkness of the magic sword grew even stronger, a dramatic change occurred in Isaac’s body.

His entire body turned black like the whites of his eyes, his muscles swelled, and his body began to enlarge.

Meanwhile, black scales sprouted all over Isaac’s body.

“Then you’ll just offer that life to the Demon Dragon.. From the beginning, it seems I no longer need the power of a saintess. Because I can achieve revenge directly with this sword.”

Isaac raised his sword with a bloody smile.

The sword, which had sucked in even the sacred power of Yuan’s saintess, was now genuinely emitting an energy that seemed capable of splitting even mountains in half.

“Nias, stay hidden.”

Nias, who had been hesitating, flinched greatly at my words.

And for some reason, she didn’t go far and hid behind me.

“This pig! Is behind me hiding?!”

“Behind the Young Master is the safest place!”

“No… ha. Forget it.”

I was about to shout at her but gave up upon seeing Nias looking up at me earnestly.

If the magic sword was the opponent, behind me might be the safest place.

“You, what are you?”

Isaac’s fierce gaze turned towards me and Nias.

I firmly pressed Nias’ head to hide her behind me and looked at Isaac.

And I briefly thought of the words that would piss off Isaac the most.

There was only one.

“That curse passed down in your family for generations, it wasn’t a big deal, right? Seems like you didn’t make the curse properly?”

Only then did Isaac’s face contort with anger.

His whole body trembled with rage, and his teeth, which had turned sharp like a beast, were revealed.

“The one who turned back my curse wasn’t the saintess, but you! No wonder it felt strange, so that’s what it was! You damn brat, I’ll tear you apart!”

I laughed as if finding it ridiculous and raised my sword.

I gripped the sword’s hilt and half-drew the sword from its scabbard.

The sword in the scabbard was a very old greatsword with even rust.

It was common.

The cliché of a weapon that looks worn out but is actually the strongest is common.

The appearance doesn’t matter.

What matters is the content!

*Shing!*

With determination, I swiftly drew the sword from its scabbard.

The strongest.

The sword named as such was revealed to the world after 500 years.

The rust that had clung to the rusty sword flew into the sky like blood due to the speed at which it was scraped off.

Among the rusty parts of the sword, the parts that had not wholly rusted yet sparkled, revealing the brilliant blade.

At that moment, a system window popped up.

*Ding!*

The strongest weapon has been acquired.

By obtaining the strongest weapon, a new function is unlocked.

Function name: The Strongest Weapon According to the Setting

I smiled faintly.

“I’ll cut you in half with one strike.”

And I raised the sword towards Isaac.

“…? What?”

Isaac, who had been drawing up the mana condensed on the magic sword, flinched in surprise and pulled his body back.

For a moment, the sword energy surging from Isaac’s sword ceased.

And then, switching to a defensive stance, he urgently surrounded his body with mana.

That defensive wall must have possessed a sturdiness that could not be easily cut by any sword or mana.

However, all resistance is futile in the face of the strongest.

Clank.

When I raised the sword, it felt as if the surroundings had momentarily stopped.

No, in reality, the only ones moving were me and Isaac.

Cutting everything in front of me in one go.

I stepped forward, picturing that image in my mind.

I was overflowing with confidence that I could definitely do it.

“Now!”

The time in this vast space, stagnant for a long time, began moving again.

Swoosh!

The old greatsword sliced through the air.

“Hmm?”

That’s strange.

A bit.

‘Is this how it originally is?’

Shouldn’t there be a bit more, you know, effect?

I swung the sword a few more times.

But the situation remained the same no matter how many times I swung it.

“…Ah, wait. Time out? Pretty please?”

I reached out my hand and gave a good-natured smile.

Of course, there was no way Isaac would allow that.

“Are you joking? I thought you had something for me.”

Isaac gently released the barrier of mana surrounding himself.

And that mana was transferred entirely to Isaac’s sword.

“Ask the Demon Dragon for more time. Not like you’ll get it, though.”

As Isaac raised his sword, the accumulated magical energy burst out.

The immense power said to split mountains was about to bloody obliterate me.

Can we take a moment to discuss how stupid the forced plot point of MC and his under-prepared teammates to go off and fight the big bad, with no adult supervision is?
Like, his only real reason to do all this is because he feels personally offended. Like, he’s talked about how strong his dad is, but “No, hE’s My fIgHt!” (deliberately typed like that to show how stupid I feel it is).

Like, at least come up with a more plausible reason, EG: Duke has to go run off to put down a beast wave, or something! Also, how tf does the duke not have any servants watching over his son, knowing he is prone to sneaking out (I’m not counting the maid)?
