“Let’s see…”
After finishing the fight with Lee Han-seok, I looked back and saw that everyone seemed very busy.
First, there were Kang Ha-young, Hwang Soo-min, and Lee Eun-hye. They had each been fighting one of the three ordinary good god followers. But now, Hwang Soo-min and Lee Eun-hye were trying to restrain Kang Ha-young.
“Ah! Let me go!!!”
“Control yourself!”
“I told you, you’ll get in trouble if you kill them without permission!”
“Argh!!”
I approached them.
“Hey, Kang Ha-young. What are you doing?”
“No… Ah. I have to kill them. They’re disgusting. I have to kill them.”
“I’ll be the one to kill them. Since we’ve already captured them, just tie them up and keep an eye on them.”
“Hmm… But I want to kill them now…”
I calmed down Kang Ha-young, who was showing a blind bloodlust towards the good god followers, and told Hwang Soo-min to keep a close watch on them.
Then I turned my head and saw the bald man fighting with all his might while sweating profusely.
He was fighting Kim Il-woo, Kim Min-joon, Ha Jin-seong, and Ha Jin-woo simultaneously without being pushed back.
He even seemed to be slightly overwhelming them.
‘Fighting four against one like that.’
He was certainly impressive, but he didn’t seem stronger than Lee Han-seok, whom I had just captured.
More importantly, the bald man lacked a decisive blow.
He was good at enduring, but fighting like that, he would eventually be overwhelmed by the four of them.
Eventually, all five of them ran out of Magic to use their skills, and the fight devolved into a tedious war of attrition.
“Argh!!!!”
Just then, the bald man, seeing the unconscious Lee Han-seok in my hands, realized that they were all doomed and decided to flee.
He unleashed his remaining Magic at the four approaching men, sending them flying backward, and tried to jump out of the building.
Ha Jin-woo blocked his path.
“You bastard!!! Die!”
The bald man roared and punched Ha Jin-woo.
Ha Jin-woo, trying to dodge, twisted his ankle from accumulated battle fatigue and was hit.
Bang!
Ha Jin-woo’s nose bridge collapsed, his face caved in, and a few teeth flew out.
His body was flung backward, and Ha Jin-seong, seeing his younger brother bleeding on the floor, screamed and lunged at the bald man.
Ha Jin-seong grabbed the bald man’s legs and tripped him.
The two grappled and rolled on the floor, and as it became a one-on-one fight, the bald man, with his higher stats, began to mercilessly beat Ha Jin-seong.
Unable to watch any longer, I quickly approached them and captured the bald man with my tentacles.
His last struggle was thwarted as I bound his limbs with tentacles. He cursed at me in a vicious voice.
But I wasn’t interested in listening to his curses, so I wrapped his face with tentacles and tightened my grip, increasing the pain.
His muscular body arched like a bow, and he screamed in agony.
“Ugh, agh!!!!”
His smooth head turned crimson as the tentacles tightened, as if about to rip off his limbs.
The blood vessels in his face bulged, threatening to burst.
‘I was going to offer him as a sacrifice, but should I enslave him instead?’
He was tough enough to hold his own against four people, even if they were ordinary Awakened individuals. He seemed like he would be useful if I kept him alive.
But I didn’t have time to torture and subdue him right now.
I had to check on the others, so I gagged the bald man and threw him to the four he had been fighting.
“Don’t kill him.”
“Yes, we understand, Hyung-nim.”
Ha Jin-seong bowed at a 90-degree angle.
His eyes were filled with hatred and rage towards the bald man. But he hid it and smiled at me, who had handed him over.
It was a twisted smile, fueled by the anger of being unilaterally beaten and the desire for revenge for his brother’s broken face.
Kim Il-woo, Kim Min-joon, and Ha Jin-seong mercilessly trampled and beat the fallen man.
Ha Jin-woo, whose nose had been broken, seemed to be alive, as he waved at me while clutching his bleeding nose. Tough guy.
I turned away from them and looked towards where the women’s screams were coming from.
“Kyaa!!! Die! Just die!”
“Don’t you dare!! You damned spawn of evil!”
The blond woman who had shot Light’s Pursuit at me was being beaten relentlessly by Ah-ram and Ah-reum.
Ah-ram, at the forefront, blocked the blond woman’s attacks with Black Armor and suppressed her with Coiling Black Flames. Ah-reum then swiftly moved in while swinging her short swords, forcing the blond woman to focus solely on defense.
As the sisters coordinated their attacks, relentlessly beating the blond woman without giving her a chance to use her skills, she screamed in pain.
The surprising thing was that she didn’t collapse despite being beaten so badly.
I was amazed by her endurance.
“Ugh!!!”
“Oh no! Unnie!”
“I’m okay! Keep attacking!”
Whenever there was an opening, the blond woman would swing her mace, delivering dangerous attacks.
Therefore, the Han sisters couldn’t let their guard down. The moment they relaxed, the menacing mace would come swinging at them.
And somehow, the blond woman minimized damage done to her by slightly twisting her body to deflect or graze the attacks aimed at her vital points. Her battle sense was truly remarkable.
She moved like a textbook tank.
Of course, even she eventually succumbed to the two-on-one disadvantage.
“Gaaa!!!”
The blond woman finally fell to one knee while vomiting blood and dazed. Han Ah-ram was about to crush her skull with her hammer, so I had to stop her.
“Wait! Stop!!”
“What!?”
“Stop! Don’t kill her!”
Han Ah-ram, enraged that her prey had been snatched away, glared at me with a frustrated look while breathing heavily.
But she didn’t resist further. She didn’t say anything to me.
Having calculated that complaining to me, her master, would only earn her more of my displeasure, she stepped back.
Then she casually threw her bloodstained hammer on the floor, grabbed her knees with both hands, and caught her breath.
Judging by her dropping her weapon, Han Ah-ram seemed to have realized that the fight was over.
On the other hand, Han Ah-reum, holding a short sword to the blond woman’s neck, asked me in a sharp voice.
“Are you… going to add another woman to your collection?”
“Yes. Tell me if you have a problem with that.”
“Tch. Whatever. Do as you please. But… what about my brother?”
“Han Tae-yang?”
“Yes. I don’t see him… Did something… happen?”
Han Ah-reum asked me with an anxious look.
As if she desperately hoped he was hiding somewhere, alive.
“Sigh. Unfortunately, it seems like he’s not coming back.”
“Huh?”
Han Ah-reum asked again, as if she couldn’t believe it. I lied to her.
“I asked those guys on patrol what happened to him earlier… Sigh.”
“Ah… No way… That can’t be…”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know they would attack today.”
“Ah… What do I do? What about Oppa…? What should I do? Ah… Sniff…”
Devastated by the news of her brother’s death, Han Ah-reum burst into tears, dropping her sword and stomping her feet.
“I’m sorry.”
I naturally embraced her as she covered her face and sobbed.
I gently stroked her back, comforting her for a moment.
Han Ah-ram, who had been catching her breath, glared at me with utter disgust. She had bitten her lower lip so hard that it was bleeding.
Knowing the truth, she must have found my act incredibly hateful.
“Shh.”
I put my index finger to my lips, signaling Ah-ram to be quiet.
She then looked away from me and started kicking the blond woman, who was gasping for breath.
The blond woman screamed as she was kicked in the jaw, but Ah-ram showed no mercy.
Since she was simply venting her frustration without intending to kill, I didn’t stop her.
This was the apocalypse. The weak had no recourse against the strong.
And it served her right, considering she had attacked first.
Han Tae-yang’s death and the blond woman’s beating were all their own fault, their own mistakes.
Anyway, I gently released Ah-reum from my embrace. She couldn’t cry forever.
“Ah-reum. The fight isn’t over yet. Calm down for now.”
“Sniff… Sob… Okay.”
Ah-reum’s tears and snot stained my chest, but I didn’t care since it was already dirty with blood and soot. Clothes were plentiful in the supermarket anyway. I could just throw them away.
I simply looked into Ah-reum’s eyes that were gleaming with venom and hatred. She was filled with rage towards those who had invaded the supermarket.
If I told her that the good gods were behind all this, a splendid hater of the good gods would be born.
“Shouldn’t we… kill them all?”
“We should kill those who deserve to be killed, but we should also take those we can use. There’s no other way.”
“Understood… I’ll control myself.”
I walked past Ah-reum, who had lowered her head while suppressing her rage, and grabbed the hair of the woman who had been beaten by Ah-ram and was coughing up bloody phlegm, lifting her head.
“Hey.”
“J-just kill me… You damn devil… I won’t submit. Never.”
In a daze, as if drugged, she repeatedly told me that she would never submit.
Spit.
Then she resisted fiercely, mocked me, and spat bloody saliva at me.
“Bitch.”
I slapped her hard across the face, and her cheek swelled up as she went limp.
How should I torture this crazy religious fanatic to make her submit?
The fight between Eun-ji, Ha-rin, and the others wasn’t over yet. I had to go help them, so I didn’t have much time to waste here.
“Sigh. Just keep an eye on her for now.”
I threw the blond woman onto the floor and approached the priest, whom Eun-ji and Ha-rin were relentlessly attacking.
This fight was also nearing its end.
“Ugh…”
The man in the suit was barely holding on against Ha-rin’s axe attacks with his barrier. The will to fight was gradually fading from his eyes.
He sighed deeply, perhaps feeling a sense of despair from the fact that everyone except him had been defeated.
As Ha-rin dropped her axe and started pummeling the barrier with her fists, it started to crack. Eun-ji’s shadow throwing blades, taking advantage of the openings, grazed the priest’s cheek as he was chanting a skill.
The priest screamed in what seemed like an abnormally high amount of pain.
Judging by his reaction, he seemed to be experiencing amplified pain due to Pain Amplification.
As he rolled on the floor, the barrier finally shattered. Eun-ji, who had approached him from behind, grabbed his hair and held her sickle to his throat, ending the fight.
The priest quickly threw away his Ankh-shaped cross, raised both hands, and surrendered.
“Sigh… Damn it. How are we supposed to win against these guys…”
He lamented while looking at me.
“We lost. I’ve lost. Just spare my life. I can use healing magic and buffs. And you saw that barrier, right? It can probably even block bullets. So please spare me. I’ll definitely be useful.”
The opponent has submitted to you.
He immediately surrendered, as if he had lost all will to fight. He seemed to want to avoid being tortured.
I scoffed and reached out to enslave him.
Just then, Kashnax, who had been silently watching, spoke.
[He’s a follower of the God of Order. Give him to me.]
“Huh?”
[Give him to me.]
Kashnax’s demand was justified. She had been holding back her hunger for quite some time.
Having lost both Han Tae-yang and Lee Han-seok to Indikron, she sounded sulky.
“Uh. Understood.”
I decided to offer this priest to her. Thanks to her advice, I had been able to quickly deal with the Holy Bomb. She had been helpful in many ways. I figured I should offer this much to stay in her good graces. It would increase her favorability and it would be beneficial to me in many ways.
“W-wait! I surrendered, didn’t I?!”
“I’m sorry, but my Lord desires your body and soul. You shouldn’t have messed with someone who was minding their own business.”
“N-no!!!”
I drew the ritual dagger and was about to stab it into his eyes.
But I couldn’t move.
A white light suddenly erupted from his eyes, sending Eun-ji, Ha-rin, and me flying backward.
He emitted white light from his mouth and eyes like someone burning with holy flames, an unstable halo formed above his head, and a halo of light appeared behind him.
As if a god had descended upon his human body.
It was a surprise attack from the good god, who we thought had retreated from the battlefield.
[You damned servants of destruction. How dare you. How dare you mock us?]
A holy and reverent male voice, difficult for a human mind to resist, emanated from his mouth.
As that dignified voice was directed at me, I couldn’t suppress the nausea and vomited blood.
Black blood poured from my mouth, my vision blurred, and the fear of death overwhelmed me.
“Wh-what…?”
The light emanating from him formed an impenetrable barrier, isolating me from the outside world.
Only he and I remained inside the barrier. Eun-ji and Ha-rin frantically attacked the barrier to save me, but it didn’t even budge.
[Your very existence is a blight upon the universe. Die, insect.]
A gavel made of light materialized in his hand.
It swung down, aiming to crush my skull.
Warning! Warning! Warning!
Dimensional distortion detected!!!!
Causality is swirling due to excessive divine intervention!
The adversary of Cephonus, Lord of Order, descends upon this place, having obtained causality!!!
Squirm.
An indescribable, viscous malice.
A mass of squirming tentacles overflowed from beneath my feet, enveloping my body.
As the tentacles wrapped around me, I felt a warm, violent, yet benevolent motherly touch.
The tentacles caressed my cheek.
I nestled into that endlessly comforting embrace like a newborn. Even a mother’s embrace, which I had never properly experienced, couldn’t have been this warm.
I snuggled into the warmth, inhaling the fishy yet comforting scent. I felt the peace of returning to the womb.
As I basked in the bliss, the mass of tentacles coalesced, forming a human shape.
However, perhaps because it couldn’t perfectly replicate a human form, it was just a mass of tentacles mimicking a human shape.
I was satisfied with that. The appearance didn’t matter.
I was grateful for its will to protect me from anything.
I was moved that Kashnax, the master of the dark, cruel, and brutal chaos, had embraced me and protected my filthy, unholy body from the divine light.
I was awestruck by her presence as she held me tightly while taking the God of Order’s gavel head-on.
I felt a sense of security in the embrace of the evil god, a feeling that I had never properly experienced in my harsh life.
Kashnax, the Master of Chaos, caught the falling gavel with one hand and quietly said to her adversary before her,
[This is against the rules. Don’t tell me you want to be banished from the game?]
Her voice was filled with rage.
It wasn’t the somewhat dazed voice filled with hunger and starvation that I usually heard.
It wasn’t the mischievous, albeit evil, voice that had whined about being hungry and demanded human sacrifices.
This time, she was truly enraged.
The air crackled and distorted as her rage intensified.
The light emanating from the priest’s mouth and eyes gradually faded in the heavy atmosphere.
The halo of light behind him disappeared, and the halo above his head flickered and shattered.
[How unsightly. Accept defeat. Your follower was simply weak, and my child was stronger. Why cling so pathetically?]
[Ha, accept defeat? You say that after seeing the flow of causality you forced into that small human body?!]
[We didn’t interfere. This was simply this child’s destiny. And didn’t you like that? That damned fatalism of yours?]
At Kashnax’s bitter laugh, the God of Order gritted his teeth and said.
[Destruction will never happen. We will surely……]
But Kashnax cut him off without letting him finish.
And she conveyed her will forcefully.
[We will ensure that this unstable maintenance ends with our own hands. Now get lost, loser.]
Finally, Cephonus, who had descended first and tried to attack me, suffered a massive loss of causality and retreated from the priest’s body, ending the commotion.
The priest’s body, unable to withstand the presence of such a powerful being, crumbled into ashes.
Only after confirming that the God of Order had completely disappeared did the atmosphere ease, and Kashnax said to me in a weary voice,
[Phew. I’m tired and hungry. Offer me plenty of sacrifices.]
“Uh. Yes.”
Kashnax then released the human form she had been forcibly maintaining, transformed back into a mass of squirming tentacles, created a dimensional rift, and crawled inside.
“Gasp… Gasp…”
I collapsed on the floor, gasping for breath, as the damn gods disappeared. Being caught between two colliding gods had almost killed me. Even a shrimp’s back could break in a whale fight, and I felt like my soul had been crushed in the power struggle between gods.
If Kashnax hadn’t mitigated the pressure on me, I would have bled from every orifice and died.
“Oppa!!!”
“Master… are you okay?”
Eun-ji rushed over and hugged me as soon as the barrier disappeared.
I reassured the anxious Ha-rin that I was okay and then laid down on the floor, dazed.
I was utterly exhausted.
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇
T/N – Mommy Kashnax to the rescue! She suddenly became a lot cooler in my eyes. I’m a sucker for mommies. 😏
Also, I felt like the God of Order was throwing a tantrum like a child. They were the ones who cheated first and yet when they still lost the game, he had the gall to get angry.
Overall a good ending to this arc, but the fight itself was disappointing. Hopefully he gets to use the spider in the next fight.
If you find any mistakes, feel free to point them out in the comments.
