Read the first 30 chapters. Almost gave up a couple times but it picks up starting at chapter 21. It needs an “emotionally weak protagonist” tag.
Hard to write a review without spoilers, but I’ll try. MC was a member of the hero party, who was a scout. Of course, all the female members of the party (mage, saintess and hero) were in love with him, but none made a move. Also in typical cliche fashion, MC asks that all his achievements be hidden. So the party disbands, and MC disappears, supposedly adventuring around the continent for years – but none of the girls can find him or hear from him. Then one day out of the blue MC shows up as a student at the Academy where the Hero is headmaster. And you soon realize something happened to MC that really screwed him up, but the author is going drag out that plot point forever. And the story goes from there.
So it has some tropes I hate (“hide my powers” because “reasons,” dense MC, emotionally weak MC, etc). And I will no doubt get frustrated withe the author for continually withholding MCs backstory. But the yandere part keeps it readable so far.
i have this strange feeling that the title is a lie
Probably
It’s true, on the surface, as far as it goes. But yeah, there’s a whole lot of subtext.
