“Agh!”
Fetch’s body, flung through the air, crashed into the wall of the ruins. She screamed reflexively, but it didn’t hurt at all.
Fetch steadied her trembling body and slowly raised her head.
The blue-haired woman, holding daggers glowing with blue light in both hands, was walking towards her, backlit and menacing.
‘I can’t win. I can’t win at all.’
She had known it for a while now. That she could never, under any circumstances, defeat this woman.
A swindler had to know their place. If they acted above their station, they would inevitably get caught.
It was one of Fetch’s cardinal rules.
But now, it wasn’t just a matter of getting caught, it was like having her entire lower body ripped off.
She had messed with the wrong person. This was a situation she couldn’t possibly fix.
‘……I should have realized it sooner.’
She was filled with regret.
When the black-haired man had called her real name, she should have run away without looking back, instead of trying to play it cool.
But it was too late now. She couldn’t bring herself to offer a deal, to release the man in exchange for her life.
If he was still alive, she could pull the lever and let him out. But what if he was dead?
She didn’t even want to imagine how the woman, who had referred to him as “my man,” would react to seeing his corpse.
“Here, catch.”
The woman tossed something.
A small, round object rolled towards her. It was a potion bottle filled with red liquid, the same potion that the black-haired man had bought from her.
Fetch’s face paled.
‘I’m… full…’
It was because she was full.
The woman was controlling her strength incredibly well.
Despite being beaten so thoroughly, Fetch didn’t have a single broken bone, not even a bruise. And yet, the woman kept throwing potions at her.
When there were injuries, potions were absorbed immediately.
So no matter how many you drank, you wouldn’t feel full. But if there weren’t any injuries, it was no different from drinking water.
All she had were a few scratches, but she had been forced to drink potion after potion.
It was torture of a different kind. This was already her seventh bottle.
“Ugh… gulp……”
“There, there. Good girl. You’ll heal faster if you drink it quickly.”
Of course, that was a secondary problem.
Fetch forced herself to drink the potion, fighting back the nausea. She ignored the sloshing sensation in her stomach, which was filled with liquid.
If she refused to drink, she didn’t know what the woman would do. The difference in skill and strength was so overwhelming that resistance wasn’t even an option.
“Good job. Now, get up. You’re all healed, aren’t you?”
“…….”
The blue-haired woman smiled sweetly and gestured with the tip of her dagger.
It was a gesture urging Fetch to stand up, but she didn’t want to. If she did, she would have to drink another potion.
Fetch remained flat on the ground, only raising her head slightly to gauge the woman’s reaction.
The woman tilted her head.
“Hmm? Why aren’t you attacking me? You said you were going to kill me.”
Fetch couldn’t even remember how many times she had heard those words.
The woman kept repeating them whenever Fetch hesitated to attack.
“If you don’t come, I’ll come to you.”
The woman took a step forward. The sound of her footsteps echoed.
Fetch flinched. She didn’t want to fight anymore.
It was a fight she was bound to lose, a fight where she would be forced to drink potions one after another.
Why bother?
So, Fetch decided to do what she was second best at, after scamming.
“I’m sorry!”
She begged for forgiveness.
“Huh?”
The woman stopped, seemingly surprised by the unexpected action.
“I’m so sorry for attacking you without knowing my place! Please forgive me!”
Fetch seized the opportunity and knelt on the ground, curling up her body, pressing her forehead against the floor, and bringing her arms together near her head, bowing as deeply as she could.
She usually used this posture to lull her opponents into a false sense of security before attacking them. But she didn’t even think about doing that now.
The difference in strength between them was too great for such petty tricks.
And she was too full.
“What’s wrong? Anyone would think I’m trying to kill you.”
I’m going to die from being too full, the words almost escaped her lips. Fetch swallowed them back. Saying something like that would only make things worse.
She wasn’t that stupid.
“Don’t worry, don’t worry. I’m not going to kill you.”
“…….”
“Because Delta asked me not to. He told me not to be too harsh, and to keep you alive.”
‘He didn’t ask you to make me explode by forcing me to drink potions?’
Fetch suppressed the nausea that kept rising due to her posture.
“Well, you don’t have to worry too much. He trapped himself in there on purpose.”
On purpose?
She involuntarily raised her head at the absurd statement.
She regretted it as soon as their eyes met, but the woman’s expression was calm. She didn’t seem to be lying.
“And it’s probably better for you that he trapped himself in there on purpose.”
The tip of the dagger pointed towards Fetch. She reflexively lowered her head again. The woman’s voice echoed above her.
“If you really scammed my man, there are a lot of people who would want to get their hands on you, besides me. You might even have to wait in line.”
Fetch shuddered at the voice, which sounded like she knew exactly what Fetch was thinking, even though she couldn’t see her face.

‘Well, it’s no different.’
I nodded, looking at the secret passage that appeared after I swung Wingless Nightmare at the largest treasure chest.
In the game, it was an illusionary wall that disappeared like a hologram, so I was curious how it would be here.
Since it was an illusionary wall, it was the same as in the game.
‘I should have Lize take care of those after we leave. Or would Nix be better suited for a one-versus-many fight?’
I glanced at the treasure chests I had left behind.
I hadn’t even touched the chests lined up in rows of six along the left and right walls, or the chest that was much larger than the others.
Naturally, because all thirteen of them were mimics.
The usual pattern of players who were tricked by Fetch, paid a million gold, and got trapped here was like this:
First, they would open the largest chest or a chest without any bloodstains, and get eaten by a mimic.
After resurrecting and returning, they would choose a different chest, thinking they were just unlucky, and get eaten by another mimic.
After resurrecting and returning again, they would get annoyed and hit a chest before opening it.
Then, as if waiting for that exact moment, all thirteen mimics would awaken, the metal gate would slam down, and they would be trapped and beaten to death by the mimics.
Only after going through this entire process would they realize that all the treasure chests here were mimics. It was a truly diabolical trap.
‘I have to avoid getting ganged up on at all costs.’
Mimics were easy to kill, despite their grotesque appearance. But thirteen of them at once was a different story.
If it were an open area, maybe.
But fighting thirteen mimics in a cramped space where a few rolls would take you from one end of the room to the other was something even I couldn’t handle.
I ignored the mimics and walked towards the secret passage.
The passage was very short. After just a few steps, a square room appeared.
The length and width of the room were about twice my height.
In the center of the room, there was a treasure chest that looked slightly different from the ones outside.
I ignored this chest as well.
It was also a mimic.
I swung Wingless Nightmare at the opposite wall of the passage.
Another secret room, hidden behind an illusionary wall, appeared. It was also a square room, about twice my height in length and width.
And there was also a dazzling treasure chest in the center. I ignored this one as well.
This one was also a mimic.
I swung my sword at the opposite wall again.
Another secret room appeared beyond the illusionary wall, and another dazzling treasure chest was visible in the center.
This chest was also a mimic.
‘Those crazy developers.’
A mimic inside an illusionary wall inside an illusionary wall inside an illusionary wall. It was a maddening design.
There were a total of sixteen mimics in this cramped space.
Moreover, if even one of the sixteen mimics awakened, the rest would awaken as well, making it almost impossible to defeat them one by one.
It was clearly designed to frustrate players by using Fetch as a scapegoat. There was no other explanation for such a diabolical structure.
‘And there are still two left.’
I walked past the last mimic and stood in front of the wall on the right side, instead of the opposite wall.
Then, I struck the wall exactly five times.
Players would usually hit the wall a couple of times to check for illusionary walls, but this design was meant to mock them until the very end.
Quite a few players had been shocked after learning this fact.
The document that hinted at the illusionary walls in these ruins could only be obtained in the late-game areas.
Rumble!
After striking the wall five times, the wall itself rose upwards, revealing another secret passage.
In the middle of the passage, there was a treasure chest that looked exactly like the one in the first room.
It was the only real treasure chest in these ruins, and also the final trap prepared by the developers.
This chest would break if hit even once, regardless of the weapon used. It would even shatter if hit with a broken straight sword that dealt single-digit damage.
‘How can anyone not check this?’
After encountering sixteen mimics in a row, it was only natural for players to suspect that this chest might also be a mimic.
So, if they hit it to check?
The chest would shatter, leaving the player dumbfounded.
This million-gold quest’s level design probably accounted for 30% of the hatred towards Fetch.
‘Those bastards.’
I cursed the developers inwardly and opened the chest. Inside, there was a bottle, lavishly decorated with gold and silver.
It was a consumable that cured all status ailments, granted immunity to status ailments for a certain period of time, fully restored HP, mana, and faith, and drastically increased stamina regeneration speed for a certain period of time.
It was the ‘Grace of the Sun.’
There was also a sister item called ‘Grace of the Moon.’ The effects were identical to the Grace of the Sun.
Perhaps because the effects were so powerful, it was a consumable that could only be obtained once per playthrough.
I didn’t know why items related to the sun and moon were in these ruins instead of the Holy Kingdom.
‘I should use this.’
I put the Grace of the Sun in my uniform pocket.
The other effects weren’t particularly useful right now, but the status ailment immunity would be incredibly helpful for a certain boss fight.
I walked further into the passage. If this were the game, I could just kill myself and resurrect at a statue, but I couldn’t do that now, so I had to clear the dungeon and exit normally.
I could ask Lize to open the metal gate, but since I had come this far, I was planning on defeating the dungeon boss. It was a boss that wouldn’t hurt to defeat.
Besides, there was a route here that allowed you to skip the entire middle section, so it wouldn’t take long.
It was a route that hadn’t been fixed even in the Darkest Light mod.
The reason was, as always, because it was a technique that only veteran players could use.
If you blindly tried to skip the middle section without knowing what you were doing, you would just see the game over screen dozens of times.
‘It’ll take about thirty minutes.’
Or maybe even less.

I knew it was gonna happen, but it’s still so stupid. She literally tried to kill them and laughed about it, not to mention the scamming, yet they spare her? This soft stuff from MC’s always pisses me off
I’d ask the Archmage later to implant a remotely triggered magic bomb into her body close to heart, just to make Fetch tremble unsure which future act of hers might cross the line enough to trigger it. And make it a bomb weak enough to cause her about half a minute of suffering in agony then.
I think you overlooked the fact that she was beat to the brink of death multiple times. Implied that she was beat to the brink of death, healed, and then beat again, enough times to want to vomit health potions.
Thanks for the translation. I would definetely fall for these traps if I played the game.

So are you continuing this or…?
