The Hero’s party journeyed through Lee Jun-woo’s memories, searching for the soul fragments.

“What memory is this!?”

“Looks like an adventurer’s quest…”

Sleeping together in a tent because there wasn’t enough room. Spending a peaceful day at home.

Successfully completing a quest with his party members. The Hero’s party witnessed Lee Jun-woo’s happy memories.

‘Those bastards!’

Estia thought, fuming.

‘How can they erase these happy memories?! That’s not right!’

They’re demons if they erase these memories! They have no tears or pee! They said Mister would be in pain if he remembered, but erasing his memories is like rubbing salt in his wounds!

Having seen so many of Mister’s happy memories, Estia’s resolve hardened.

“…I’m going to restore his memories!”

“What did you say, Estia? Did I hear you correctly?”

“…Haha! I’m going to erase all his memories!”

Estia quickly changed her tune. She would play along for now and wait for her chance.

Hare, carrying a bundle of staffs on her back, grumbled,

“…We already have eight staffs, Estia. I’m tired. When will this end?”

“I don’t know! The book said to go to the end of his memories!”

“Where is the end…?”

“I don’t know!”

“…This is so heavy. I think we should hire a porter, like Mister’s party…”

Hare looked enviously at the porter in Mister’s party. He looked ordinary, but he carried all their luggage. He seemed to be enjoying himself.

“We have to follow Mister… and fill his memories… with me…!”

Gnash, gnash-!

Aina was with Mister in this memory too, so Hare seethed with jealousy.

Luna, used to Hare’s behavior, said,

“Hare! Stop muttering and follow me! You’re being noisy!”

“…Okay.”

“You lost rock-paper-scissors, so accept it! Hurry up and find the staff! There’s another one over there!”

The Hero’s party found another soul fragment and ran towards it. Hare, now carrying nine staffs, gritted her teeth and endured the weight.

“I-I’ll get rid of that woman… from Mister’s memories…”

“Be quiet and come inside!”

“…I-I’ll get my revenge… for stealing Mister…”

Hare, her gaze fixed on Aina, stepped through the portal. This time, the memory was different.

“What’s with this atmosphere?”

“It’s dark. Very dark. Is this a party breaking up?”

“…Are they fighting?”

The previous memories had been happy, even when Mister was in difficult situations. But this one felt heavy and oppressive.

Lee Jun-woo, his expression troubled, said coldly,

“Raoul. You want to quit being a porter?”

“Y-Yes. I’m tired of being a porter. I want to quit.”

Raoul.

The porter avoided Lee Jun-woo’s gaze as he announced his departure from the party. But Lee Jun-woo’s expression was disapproving.

“…We’ve already accepted the quest. Are you sure you want to quit?”

“Y-Yes… I want to quit…”

“Is it because of what happened yesterday?”

“…”

Raoul flinched. The Hero’s party sensed Mister’s anger.

“What’s going on? Why is Mister angry?”

“…It’s not Mister’s fault. The porter must have done something wrong.”

As if to confirm Hare’s words, Raoul’s lips trembled as he said,

“…W-What happened yesterday wasn’t wrong. I just expressed my feelings-“

“Expressing your feelings is fine. It’s the way you did it that was the problem. Who confesses like that, Raoul?”

Lee Jun-woo explained what Raoul had done wrong.

“I understand you wanted to ease your family’s worries, since they don’t have much time left. You wanted to show your filial piety. But introducing Aina as your lover in front of them and proposing to her, putting her in a difficult position… that was wrong.”

“…”

“Any normal woman would have been pressured to accept, but Aina doesn’t care about such things. You idiot. Aina was right. You’re a ‘crazy bastard.’”

“…D-Did I do something that wrong? B-But it was my feelings-“

Tsk-

Lee Jun-woo cut him off.

“Pathetic.”

“…What?”

“We have a quest tomorrow, so fulfill your responsibilities and leave. I’ll pay you extra.”

Lee Jun-woo closed the door and left.

“What was that about?!”

“T-That man was in the wrong… b-but that’s a good confession method…”

“Huh…?”

“Creating a situation where she can’t refuse… that bastard made Mister angry… but… I learned something useful…”

“…”

I don’t understand. Luna fled from Hare’s twisted logic.

‘That porter, Raoul…’

He liked Sister Aina.

But he stayed with Mister and Sister Aina…

So he tried to make a move…

“But his method was wrong! That’s not right!”

I’m different from that porter!

Luna thought, turning away from the porter. His last expression had been unsettling, but she decided not to dwell on it.

“Let’s go to the next memory! I don’t want to see Mister angry!”

“I like Mister’s angry face. It’s fun to watch him up close.”

“I-I see.”

There’s no one normal in this party.

‘I have to erase these memories for Mister’s happiness! They’re all so caught up in them! They’re not normal!’

Luna, unaware that she was the abnormal one, went in search of the last soul fragment.

“This staff is… heavy…”

Hare’s burden grew heavier.

◇◇◇◆◇◇◇

The Hero’s party emerged from the portal into a scene of intense battle.

“Jun, protect me!”

“I am.”

A creature was attacking them with miasma. Luna and Estia instinctively knew it was a Demon Lord. But their attention was drawn to someone else.

“Estia.”

“I see him too, Luna.”

The porter was acting strange. Porters had no role in battles. They were supposed to stay hidden and protected by the party. But Raoul was standing in a corner, his gaze fixed on Aina.

The Hero’s party frowned.

“Ugh, disgusting! His eyes are impure!”

“…Yes, very impure.”

“I… I feel like something is about to happen…!”

Something is going to happen. Estia shifted her gaze between the Demon Lord and the porter. She couldn’t see clearly, but she could see miasma clinging to Raoul.

Estia sensed the beginning of the party’s downfall.

“W-What… Mister… you had memories like this…?”

“What is it! What’s happening! Estia! The Demon Lord is defeated, so what’s the problem!”

“…You’ll see.”

Estia finally understood why Mister had craved holy water so desperately. Thinking about the Demon Lord’s demise, Estia focused on Lee Jun-woo’s party.

“That’s it? That’s the Demon Lord? Jun, did you see that? I killed the Demon Lord! Doesn’t that make me the Hero?”

“You’re closer to a Demon Lord than a Hero.”

“…I agree. Show some empathy, disciple.”

Lee Jun-woo ignored Aina and looked around.

“Is Raoul okay? He stayed put, right?”

“Wait, Jun. Why are you worried about him? Just throw that trash away. I don’t care if he dies.”

“Are you that angry?”

“He had the nerve to confess to me. As if I would be his lover. So annoying. I already have someone…”

Aina blushed.

Lee Jun-woo blushed too.

The Hero’s party seethed.

“Ahem, anyway… take care of Raoul. He seemed like a decent guy when we first met.”

“No. He’s disgusting. I feel sick. He should die. I don’t want to talk to that idiot.”

“…Fine, I’ll go.”

Sigh.

Lee Jun-woo sighed and walked towards Raoul. But he stopped. Raoul’s condition didn’t look good.

“Sh-She was… mine from the beginning… Aina… is mine… who are you… calling me pathetic…”

“Raoul…?”

“Sh-Shut up…!! D-Don’t pity me…!! W-Who are you… to judge my love…!!”

“That miasma…”

The same miasma as before. Lee Jun-woo’s expression changed, and he shouted,

“You crazy bastard! Everyone, run-“

But before he could finish, the priest’s head was severed. The Demon Lord of Envy had been resurrected and had possessed Raoul.

Betrayal by a trusted comrade. The Hero’s party was enraged.

“…So this is Mister’s past. That damn porter…!”

“N-No more porter… we don’t need a porter… p-poor Mister…”

“…”

“That porter is trash!”

The Hero’s party reacted differently, but they all wanted to help Mister. They were frustrated that this was just a memory.

With the priest’s death, the party was pushed into a corner. The outcome was inevitable.

“So this is how Sister Aina died…! M-Mister, what do we do… that damn porter! He’s trash!”

Aina sacrificed herself to protect Lee Jun-woo.

Lee Jun-woo and Irina escaped, but Aina was caught in the Demon Lord’s miasma and seemingly killed. But one person noticed something different.

“Sob… Mister is so sad… I-I’ll make sure he’s happy…!”

“What? But at the end…”

“Sniffle… what is it, Saten…?”

“…Nothing.”

Saten turned away, but she had seen it.

Lee Jun-woo hadn’t noticed in his panic, but Saten had sensed Aina using magic at the last moment.

“A sealing… spell? Perhaps…”

“Why are you muttering to yourself! Are you being bullied, Saten?”

“…I’m not being bullied. Let’s restore Mister’s soul and erase his memories.”

“…Really? Okay!”

Luna, eager to erase Mister’s memories, led the Hero’s party forward. Only Estia had a different plan.

‘W-What should I do?! If I make the wrong choice, they’ll beat me up!’

The outcome rested solely in Estia’s hands.

Honestly, I’d vote for restoring his memories, simply because it’s the “right” thing to do in MY opnion.
+ I feel that if they erase it, and later he somehow remembers by himself, he would be reeeeeeally mad.
