◇◇◇◆◇◇◇

He was originally an ordinary cadet.

He came from a family that ran a small farm, so he had a special affection for vegetables, but it wasn’t to the extent that everyone around him would call him eccentric, like now.

-Him? That crazy guy? Don’t even get me started.

-One day, he suddenly started beating people with cucumbers during sparring.

-He’s crazy. He’s not strong, he’s just insane.

As could be seen from the reactions of his classmates at the time, he was a very normal cadet.

The first man in the history of the academy to exceed 400 penalty points, a man who almost had his graduation postponed.

That was the one-man farmer of True Love Farm Products, Ban Ki-san.

He was neither a hero nor a villain.

“Eat your vegetables!”

…Judging by his current actions, he was closer to a villain than a hero, but he does subjugate monsters, catch villains, donate his earnings to society, and provide the vegetables and fruits he personally grew to orphanages and the poor.

And he made villains eat vegetables, made animals eat vegetables, made the weak eat vegetables, and also forced the strong to eat vegetables.

He was a unique character who stood out in a very bad way, even in the incredibly dark original story.

A gag character based on an excessive love for vegetables and an obsession with food ingredients didn’t really fit in a frustrating, cancer-inducing novel, so he didn’t appear much in the original story.

The reason he came to the academy now was simple.

After discovering his objective, he ran towards a female student without caring about the circumstances.

Exams? Sparring matches? He didn’t care about such things.

His only concern was making the students pay for the atrocity they had committed a while ago.

He barged into the sparring match and took out a thick, black eggplant.

The sight of him, with his tanned, rippling muscles, holding out a thick, black object to the girls was quite criminal.

“Why do you waste food?”

That was right.

They were the girls who had thrown away Kim Ga-eul’s lunchbox a while ago.

“Everything contains the sweat of the farmer, and the spirit of the land. Have you never thought that the food you mercilessly threw away was once alive, and that you should be grateful for it?”

As he channeled mana into the eggplant, the black, shiny eggplant glowed ominously purple.

“Um…”

“I won’t listen to excuses! I’ve confirmed that you threw away food, and my talent is reacting to you!”

What exactly is your talent…?

The girl finished what she had to say, even while thinking that.

“…I threw away fish cakes.”

The farmer was silent for a moment.

“Since it contains flour, it’s true that you disregarded the sweat of the farmer.”

However, reasons weren’t very important to a madman.

“That’s enough!”

A professor rushed in to subdue him, but it was futile resistance.

“You’ve been leaving food on your plate lately.”

“No, you crazy bastard! You’re still saying that! It’s been so long since you graduated, and you still haven’t changed…!”

Professor Kim Min-soo, the basic physical education instructor.

He shouted desperately at the student who had once taken his class, but the man didn’t even pretend to listen.

“I don’t negotiate with those who waste food.”

There was nothing he could do in the face of the pressure from the crazy vegetable terrorist.

◇◇◇◆◇◇◇

Ki-san was a very unique character.

His motives were so simple and clear, yet it was incomprehensible from a normal person’s perspective.

Picky eating was fine, but wasting food was unacceptable.

That was his principle, his only standard.

This was largely due to his near-invincible ability if the conditions were met.

A+ rank talent, Legendary Farmer. That was the name of his innate talent.

“I know. I understand. Everyone has their preferences, and as cadets, you might leave food you didn’t choose yourselves.”

He shoved a mana-infused carrot into Professor Kim Min-soo’s mouth and then turned to the girls who were trembling before him.

“But I will never forgive wasting food.”

His muscles rippled as he delivered a very outdated joke.

Having witnessed all of this, I came to a conclusion.

“Should I reconsider?”

Ban Ki-san. He was a somewhat absurd character, but he was the first person I thought of scouting as a subordinate while acting as the mastermind (temporary) of the academy.

The reason was simple.

I judged that he had all the elements of a cool villain that I envisioned.

Cheerful, moderately playful, and above all, strong and acted according to his own beliefs.

Although he didn’t have much of a role in the original story because he didn’t fit the novel’s atmosphere, I thought he had the potential to be a popular villain.

“But it’s different seeing him in person compared to reading about him.”

Every time the tanned skin under his handsome face rippled, I wanted to run away.

“Ah, don’t worry. I won’t hurt you.”

From an objective standpoint, it seemed like he had already caused the students enough trauma, but he said he didn’t intend to hurt them anyway.

“Eat this eggplant and be reborn.”

His thick, firm-looking black eggplant brushed against the girls’ mouths.

“Eek…!”

“Uwaaaah…!”

Uh, shit. I felt a little sorry for them now.

No, thinking about it, it wasn’t that I felt sorry, but rather, I felt a little bad for them.

No, I’m telling you, it was funny when I read about it in the novel.

But his eggplant didn’t violate the girls’ mouths.

Because someone stepped in front of him.

Cathy.

Our secret friend.

“…What are you doing?”

She was quite angry.

“I’m punishing those who don’t value food and giving them time to reflect.”

“I see. I understand your purpose. Let’s hear the rest at the correctional facility.”

Ah, the correctional facility, as the name suggested, was a facility for rehabilitating superhuman criminals who had committed crimes that weren’t serious enough to warrant imprisonment.

Ban Ki-san looked at her and smiled.

“Nice body.”

…Is this guy crazy? Is he trying to die?

“It’s a well-developed body that only someone with a balanced diet can have. As expected of a Reilan Academy professor.”

Ah, that. Right. She was well-nourished.

“But you can’t beat me.”

“Hmph…!”

As if she had heard enough, she leaped forward flexibly.

Her mana-infused body transcended human limitations, and as a superhuman in the truest sense, she punched him mercilessly.

“Move.”

And her fist was blocked by his bumpy, green weapon.

“…What?”

“You can’t even split this cucumber with such a soft fist.”

That was right. A cucumber.

His talent, Legendary Farmer, wasn’t originally like this.

It was originally just a talent for recognizing fertile soil and making the vegetables he grew bigger and tastier, but…

He had awakened it.

The land responded to his excessive love for vegetables and his obsession with soil, allowing him to break through the wall.

Legendary Farmer Ban Ki-san. His awakened talent was the insane ability to become invincible when facing someone who wasted edible food.

Anyone who had thrown away food waste within the past month couldn’t harm him.

And if the wasted food was a vegetable, they couldn’t resist his attacks.

His ability was to become conditionally invincible.

What kind of bullshit is this? I don’t know either.

But my friend wrote it that way.

“You recently wasted a vegetable. A bell pepper that could have saved someone.”

“What…? How did you…”

“The bell pepper you abandoned told me. It asked me to defeat you! And to rehabilitate you!”

He bit into the cucumber himself and then pulled out a bell pepper from somewhere.

“Don’t worry. You’ll soon find the slightly bitter taste of this bell pepper irresistibly delicious.”

She took a step back with instinctive disgust.

“…This is bad… Shit.”

I was about to step in, but the others had already joined her.

Lilac and Kang Ha-ni.

“Professor, are you alright!?”

“…How did such a suspicious person get into the academy?”

Ki-san smiled brightly at Lilac, who looked genuinely surprised, and Kang Ha-ni, who was looking at him with disgust.

“You guys don’t seem to be picky eaters! This old man is truly happy!”

…Should I watch a little longer?

◇◇◇◆◇◇◇

Ki-san was happy.

The two boys and the female professor in front of him were people who enjoyed a very healthy diet by his standards.

But they weren’t perfect.

“That boy over there seems to dislike seasoned seaweed stems.”

“Huh? Yes, that’s right.”

“It’s an ingredient that can have an unpleasant fishy taste depending on how it’s cooked. I understand. But the sea is also a part of the land, in a broader sense. Seaweed can also be considered a vegetable.”

Lilac nodded at the words that sounded like nonsense to anyone.

“Ah, I’ll be careful from now on.”

“Yes, if you stir-fry it and mix it with sesame oil, it’ll be easier to eat. Then step aside, boy. I was about to show those two behind you the wonders of vegetables.”

“I can’t let you do that.”

“…Lilac, why are you answering such a strange person so politely?”

“That gi…rl? Or boy? Hmm, I don’t know, but you seem to have a pretty healthy diet. I can hear the vegetables you’ve cooked rejoicing.”

“…What crazy…”

“But why don’t you share that affection with cherry tomatoes? I’m glad I have the chance to show you the wonders of tomatoes!”

“Bullshit.”

A draw.

The mana-infused draw was a blow filled with genuine intent, and was visible to anyone.

A full-powered blow, born from the thought that she, as a cadet, couldn’t hold back against an opponent who had effortlessly withstood Professor Cathy’s attack.

But he ridiculously blocked the attack with a tomato.

The elastic skin and flesh of the tomato deflected the supersonic slash that had flown from the scabbard while shimmering.

…But where does this guy keep pulling vegetables from?

“If you had eaten tomatoes properly, you could have launched a stronger attack…!”

“What are you talking about, you crazy bastard!?”

Following that, Lilac shot out a holy sword light, but Ki-san took out some seaweed and threw it at Lilac.

The moment the holy sword tried to cut the seaweed, the swelling seaweed entangled the holy sword.

“Ugh…!?”

“If you intend to keep interfering, I have no choice but to get serious.”

He took out a cucumber and an eggplant in each hand.

“If you don’t want to taste my thick and bumpy guys, get lost.”

The ranking match was already a mess. The other cadets and professors approached to see the commotion, but the situation didn’t improve at all.

“Why are you resisting so much? I just want you to eat vegetables and understand the sublimity of ingredients. Why are you interfering!?”

Lilac, who wielded the holy sword, or rather, the seaweed sword, and Ha-ni took a step back.

They were pushed back by the momentum Ki-san exuded.

When everyone thought no one could stop him, someone stepped forward.

Kang So-hyun.

Seeing the thin and frail boy, who clearly looked malnourished, Ki-san completely ignored him at first.

He frowned at the sight of the boy’s body, which looked like it would collapse rather than being well-developed, a physical condition that was too embarrassing to call superhuman.

But…

He soon had to change his mind.

No reaction.

His talent didn’t budge at all.

The vegetables that boasted invincible strength returned to being mere ingredients, and the earth affirmed the boy.

Because it meant only one thing.

“Um, I think you’ve done enough already. Shouldn’t you go back now?”

It meant that he had lived for more than a month without creating any food waste and that he hadn’t been a picky eater.

“Ah, ah.”

The person he had been searching for, a near-perfect being, was right in front of him.

“You… Do you want to try running a farm?”

“…Are you crazy?”

He even liked the way this boy played hard to get while inwardly being pleased.

◇◇◇◆◇◇◇

The crazy farmer smiled brightly as he extended his hand to me.

“You… Do you want to try running a farm?”

I didn’t know what this crazy talk was about, but it seemed like a recruitment offer.

But I was supposed to be the one doing the scouting!

“…Are you crazy?”

“Haha, yes. You need that much spirit to be qualified to own a farm.”

I didn’t know what owning a farm had to do with spirit, but he took a stance.

“I’ll rehabilitate those kids next time to show my respect for you! Then, see you next time!”

That was right, he was getting ready to run away.

There were only two ways to beat this guy.

Either be so strong that his ability couldn’t cancel it out, or be like me and not waste food.

And in front of someone who didn’t waste food, he was surprisingly powerless.

Even though he could exert power similar to an average hero just by wrapping his strong body in mana, he would refuse to fight, saying it was just violence.

He was definitely a madman.

“Ah, the damages to the facilities will be deposited soon under the name of True Love Farm Products!”

With those words, he got into his truck and calmly left the academy.

Thirty minutes had passed like a storm.

There were no casualties, but it was an incident that caused the barely recovered reputation of Reilan Academy to plummet once again.

[Translator Notes]

T/N – Dang, this Ki-san dude is crazy! I wonder how many of you readers will activate his talent… Me? I pick my food before I put them on my plate, so I don’t waste any food.

Also, I could tell the author had fun writing this chapter. I initially changed the eggplant’s color to dark purple since I’ve never really heard of black eggplants before, but I changed it back to black after I saw the innuendos. As for the innuendos, *ahem* please remember that some of the first years are not yet of age (Kang Ha-ni is 17 years old for example).

If you find any mistakes, feel free to point them out in the comments.
