◇◇◇◆◇◇◇

Inside the silent carriage. Not even the sound of breathing could be heard.

Every single person stared at Jeong Yoo-shin’s face.

Kundal looked up at Jeong Yoo-shin, then slowly turned his head to face forward.

The middle-aged merchant sat calmly, but his face twitched nervously.

“…”

The silence continued, thick with tension.

Jeong Yoo-shin reached out and placed his hand on Kundal’s head.

Inhale. Exhale.

He took a long drag from his cigarette and blew the smoke on Kundal’s face.

“Cough. Cough.”

“Kundal.”

Jeong Yoo-shin called his name while stroking his head.

“…”

“Watch closely.”

Jeong Yoo-shin then dropped the cigarette from his hand.

It fell on the carriage floor.

Everyone’s eyes briefly focused on the cigarette.

In that split second.

Thud!!!

Jeong Yoo-shin drew a dagger and stabbed the man across from him.

The long dagger ripped through the man’s carotid artery.

Pshhhhhhh!!!

Blood spurted from his neck like a geyser, splattering the carriage ceiling and drenching the passengers.

The assassins were stunned.

Jeong Yoo-shin didn’t stop there.

He had to make sure that the man was dead.

Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!

He stabbed frantically, not caring where he hit— the man’s stomach, neck, eyes, head, chest.

The man’s body was quickly mangled.

The assassins finally snapped out of their daze.

Screams and the splattering of blood mixed together.

“Shiiiit!!! Kill him!!!”

Nine men drew their weapons. But their bodies wouldn’t move as they intended.

“W-What the?!”

Jeong Yoo-shin grinned.

Just as planned. He had mixed the paralyzing herb into the cigarette. He had activated Venom Protection beforehand, so he had nothing to worry about. But seeing how these guys were still moving, it seemed less effective than ingesting it directly.

Jeong Yoo-shin grabbed the hair of the man next to him and plunged the dagger deep inside him.

The long blade pierced the man’s heart.

“Gurk!!!”

The man let out a death rattle.

Next.

As Jeong Yoo-shin turned his head.

A dagger pierced through his coat and deep into his abdomen. The sharp blade churned his insides.

Excruciating pain.

His mind reeled.

[Revenger]

His imprint activated.

Instead of screaming, Jeong Yoo-shin smiled and looked at the man who had stabbed him in the abdomen. The goateed man’s face twitched.

Jeong Yoo-shin pulled the dagger from his abdomen and plunged it into the goateed man’s stomach.

“Kuh!!!”

The goateed man screamed.

Weapons flew at him from all directions. Swords, daggers, maces, hammers. Fortunately, they lacked force thanks to the paralyzing herb’s smoke.

Jeong Yoo-shin took the hits and stabbed with his dagger.

Thud!!! Thud!!! Thud!!! Thud!!!

He didn’t even know where he was stabbing. Neck, chest, stomach, legs, eyes, head, heart. He stabbed anywhere he could see.

“Guh!!!”

“Kyaaa!!! Help me!!!”

“Fuck!!! Just die!!! You monster!!!”

The already cramped carriage became a chaotic mess.

As the carriage shook violently, the men lost their balance and tumbled over each other like worms.

Jeong Yoo-shin joined the fray, stabbing with his dagger.

He fought like a madman, not knowing who was hitting or stabbing whom.

“Shiiiit!!!”

“Kyaa!!! My leg!!!”

“My eye!!!”

Thump! Thump! Thump!

They fell to the floor, crashed against the walls, threw punches, and screamed.

A fight with no rules. There wasn’t even enough space to swing his sword properly.

The carriage, filled with blood and screams, was like a poisonous jar, where all sorts of toxins were mixed together, and only the most potent survived.

In this blood-soaked hell.

Jeong Yoo-shin, lost in a trance, stabbed and stabbed with his dagger.

Until when?

Until the man in front of him stopped moving.

“Haaa!!! Help me!!!”

A man, unable to endure the hellish scene any longer, grabbed the carriage door and opened it.

Was he trying to escape? Not a chance.

Jeong Yoo-shin lunged forward and grabbed the man by the hair.

“Gah!!!”

The man screamed.

Thud!!! Thud!!! Thud!!!

Jeong Yoo-shin grabbed the man’s hair and stabbed him repeatedly in the back of the neck.

As if possessed, he relentlessly stabbed the man’s neck, turning it into a pulpy mess, even as the other assassins stabbed and punched him.

He dragged the man, who was foaming at the mouth, back into the carriage and closed the door.

The carriage lurched violently.

Crash!

Jeong Yoo-shin fell to the floor. The blood-soaked floor was slippery. His leather coat was already drenched in blood.

Three men immediately pounced on him, trying to pin him down with their weight.

“W-What’s happening?!”

The coachman’s window opened, and the coachman shouted.

“Stop!!!”

The men shouted in unison.

“Keep going!!! The assassins have betrayed us!!!”

Jeong Yoo-shin, pinned to the floor, yelled.

The coachman looked confused. Kundal, who should have been giving orders, was cowering in the corner, covered in blood.

‘These bastards are ganging up on me?’

Jeong Yoo-shin opened his mouth and bit the man’s nose.

“Kyaaaack!!!”

The man flailed in horror, but it was too late.

Jeong Yoo-shin ripped off the man’s nose, bone and all. He chewed on it for a moment, then spat it in the man’s face.

“Ptooey!!!”

“Haaaa!!!”

Another assassin screamed, covering his eyes as the chewed flesh and blood splattered onto his face.

“Q-Quickly, kill him!!!”

The only man still relatively unharmed swung his mace down, aiming for Jeong Yoo-shin’s head.

Jeong Yoo-shin quickly turned his head.

Wham!!!

Wooden fragments flew, and the carriage floor caved in.

Jeong Yoo-shin threw his dagger.

Whoosh!!!

Thwack!!!

“Gah!”

The dagger plunged deep into the man’s chest, piercing his heart. The man let out a death rattle and died instantly.

He was now completely unarmed, but it didn’t matter.

Jeong Yoo-shin poked the man’s eye with his finger.

“Fuck!!!”

The man on top of him recoiled, cursing. His body suddenly felt lighter.

An opportunity.

Jeong Yoo-shin threw a punch, hitting the man square in the face.

Wham!!!

Jeong Yoo-shin’s right hook landed cleanly on the man’s jaw, shattering it.

“Aaaaa!!!”

The man screamed while clutching his jaw.

Jeong Yoo-shin made eye contact with the last man on top of him.

The man was crying while stabbing Jeong Yoo-shin’s chest repeatedly with a dagger.

“Die! Die! Why won’t you die?!”

Snatch!

Jeong Yoo-shin reached out and grabbed the man’s dagger.

“Stop it already. I’ve had enough. You little shit, how many times are you going to stab me?”

“H-Huh!!!”

The man’s face turned pale.

Thud!!!

Ignoring his shock, Jeong Yoo-shin plunged the dagger into the man’s abdomen.

“Gasp!!!”

The man’s eyes widened. The expression of someone whose insides were being pierced by a blade.

Did he sense his impending death? The man stared blankly at Jeong Yoo-shin’s face.

Jeong Yoo-shin smiled at the man.

Just then…

Wham!!!

Jeong Yoo-shin’s head slammed against the carriage floor. The man with the broken jaw had mustered all his strength and swung a club at Jeong Yoo-shin’s head.

“Huff. Huff.”

The man gasped for breath, clutching his broken jaw.

Jeong Yoo-shin abruptly lifted his head. Crimson blood streamed down his forehead.

“Heh.”

Jeong Yoo-shin smiled at the man.

The terrified man swung the club again.

Block!

Jeong Yoo-shin reached out and blocked the club. He threw a punch, shattering the man’s cheekbone.

The man stumbled and collapsed onto the seat. Jeong Yoo-shin pulled a dagger from a corpse and stabbed the man.

Thud!!! Thud!!! Thud!!! Thud!!!

“Ugh! Ugh!”

He stabbed and stabbed and stabbed. With each thrust of the dagger, the man thrashed like a fish out of water.

How many times did he stab?

Jeong Yoo-shin, lost in a trance, finally stopped. The man slumped against the seat, motionless.

The carriage had also stopped.

He looked around. The carriage, drenched in blood, was a gruesome sight. And it was silent.

They were all dead. No, wait.

There was one survivor.

Jeong Yoo-shin turned his head and looked at Kundal.

Chatter! Chatter! Chatter!

Kundal’s teeth chattered incessantly. Tears streamed down his wide eyes.

Jeong Yoo-shin looked at the blood-soaked floor.

He picked up the paralyzing cigarette. It was soaked with blood.

He put it back in his pocket and sat next to Kundal.

Thump.

Jeong Yoo-shin slung his arm around Kundal’s shoulder.

His body was slowly healing thanks to the Revenger imprint.

Jeong Yoo-shin spoke.

“Kundal.”

“…”

Kundal’s body started convulsing. Jeong Yoo-shin continued, unfazed.

“Why do you buy and sell people? Do you love money that much?”

“…I-I-I only transported them…”

“Isn’t that the same thing? Even if their appearance has changed due to imprints, they’re still human inside. Why should they be sold, used as playthings, and then be killed as sacrifices for leveling up? Enlighten me.”

“…”

Kundal couldn’t speak.

Jeong Yoo-shin looked up at the carriage ceiling.

These disgusting bastards.

The more he saw, the more people he wanted to kill.

Jeong Yoo-shin picked up his arming sword from the floor.

“Goodbye.”

“Haaa!”

Kundal screamed.

Just then…

“Oswald’s lackey, come out.”

Someone said from outside the carriage.

Jeong Yoo-shin tilted his head.

“Oswald’s lackey? Kundal, open the door.”

Kundal, still held tightly by Jeong Yoo-shin, struggled to open the carriage door.

Creak.

Jeong Yoo-shin peeked outside.

Pitter-patter. Pitter-patter. Pitter-patter.

A quiet clearing in the forest, under the summer rain.

Ten men stood there, holding crossbows.

And in the center stood a female dark elf. She wore black leather armor and carried a rapier.

‘Kuelin Calheid.’

The leader of this transport and kidnapping operation.

Her imprints were Fast Weapon, Crow’s Sight, and Hyper Sensitivity.

She wouldn’t be an easy opponent.

Jeong Yoo-shin waved.

“You’ve worked hard. Since it’s raining, why don’t you come in and rest?”

“…”

The assassins stared at Jeong Yoo-shin, dumbfounded.

The dark elf frowned.

“Are you out of your mind? Has Oswald gone crazy? Or are you trying to get a cut too?”

“Dark elf, your thinking is rather twisted. Did your heart turn black like your skin?”

A vein throbbed on the dark elf’s forehead.

“You clown with paint on your face. Look at yourself. You’re covered in blood. Isn’t your heart the same?”

‘She’s got a sharp tongue.’

Jeong Yoo-shin, unable to think of a retort, looked down at Kundal. The poor, middle-aged man was trembling like a baby bird while still held tightly in Jeong Yoo-shin’s grasp.

“Kundal, that dark elf is making absurd accusations. What should we do?”

Jeong Yoo-shin asked, but Kundal remained silent and only trembled more.

“How did you kill so many assassins?”

The dark elf asked.

“Poison.”

Jeong Yoo-shin answered honestly.

The dark elf looked at Kundal.

“Th-That’s right. He used some strange poison that paralyzed everyone!”

“You crazy bastard. Come out.”

Jeong Yoo-shin dragged Kundal out of the carriage. Kundal was still firmly gripped by Jeong Yoo-shin.

Thud.

His bloodstained walker boots landed on the clearing’s ground.

Jeong Yoo-shin brushed back his hair and looked around.

“Is Kundal your hostage?”

“…”

Jeong Yoo-shin didn’t answer the dark elf’s question and continued to survey his surroundings.

It was a novel feeling.

A similar situation to when he had first arrived in this world.

A clearing. Captives.

Back then, he had been captured by slave hunters for no apparent reason and had almost died.

How much stronger had he become since then?

He didn’t know.

But he didn’t feel the need to pretend to be calm and collected while suppressing his emotions like he had done before.

Had he changed?

People change after struggling in a new world.

New wine requires new wineskins.

Jeong Yoo-shin smiled at the dark elf.

The dark elf’s expression hardened considerably. Her grip on her rapier’s hilt tightened.

“You’re smiling in this situation? You’re not Oswald’s subordinate. Who are you?!”

Jeong Yoo-shin released Kundal and bowed his head.

“Greetings. Your love, my love, children’s love, I am Karl.”

In the rain-soaked forest.

A bizarre self-introduction.

The people surrounding Jeong Yoo-shin trembled.

[Translator Notes]

T/N – I love how ‘barbaric’ the MC fights. So unhinged, I love it. I’m excited for the next chapter.

Also, the MC complains about not having OP imprints, but Revenger alone seems pretty powerful to me. I know the other explorers are pretty meh on it, but Revenger has kept our boy alive despite getting so injured like in this chapter where it allowed him to tank multiple stab wounds and be good enough for another fight in a few minutes.

If you find any mistakes, feel free to point them out in the comments.

With how much of a berserker the MC is, revenger is hella op.

It’s just when you imagine that imprint on other people who aren’t berserkers or counter guard tanks, that mehness becomes apparent.

Kinda makes sense that Revenger isn’t treated as that great under normal circumstances. I mean, it’s pretty so-so for someone without great pain tolerance and high durability, but someone like the MC who’s disgustingly good at shrugging off damage and dishing it back out is perfectly suited to bring out its full potential.
