◇◇◇◆◇◇◇
Silence fell over the inn. Everyone held their breath, their gazes shifting between Jeong Yoo-shin and the rough-looking men.
“Kkut… Khahahaha!!!”
The bearded man snorted, then burst into raucous laughter. His subordinates followed suit.
“Pfft… Hahahaha!!!”
“Gu… Pfft! An exorcism ritual!!! Is this guy completely insane?!”
Jeong Yoo-shin slowly ran a hand through his hair.
“Come outside.”
The bearded man smirked.
“What a lunatic… Fine!”
Jeong Yoo-shin stepped out into the street.
The men swaggered out after him.
Under the scorching sun, Jeong Yoo-shin and the men faced off in the middle of the street.
Not only the patrons inside the inn but also the people on the street began to gather one by one.
“A fight’s broken out!!!”
“Oh dear. Even though the festival is near, this is the umpteenth time this has happened.”
“I’m going to go bankrupt before the festival even starts because of these guys.”
Complaints and grumbles erupted from the crowd.
A sizable crowd quickly gathered around Jeong Yoo-shin and the men. One of them pointed at the men.
“Oh?!”
“What is it?”
“Aren’t those guys the Pighead Mercenaries?”
“Are they famous?”
“Not really. Only those in the know would recognize them. I heard that they operate in the Western Empire. How did they get all the way here…?”
“They came a long way. Did they travel along the Pilgrim’s Road?”
Jeong Yoo-shin ignored the whispers. He wasn’t interested in where these mercenaries came from.
The bearded man chuckled.
“Innkeeper, are you scared?”
“…”
“It’s not too late. All we want are the money and the women. Let’s end this quietly.”
Jeong Yoo-shin ignored the bearded man and looked around.
The middle of the street. It was now crowded with people who had come to watch the fight. He had heard that many people had gathered for the festival, but this was a ridiculous number.
Jeong Yoo-shin turned his gaze back to the men.
Complete newbies. And possessed, to boot.
There was only one cure.
“Foul evil spirits, leave those bodies.”
Countless question marks appeared above the heads of the onlookers at Jeong Yoo-shin’s declaration.
“What the hell is that half-blood barbarian talking about?”
“How would I know? He’s a virgin at his age. How could we possibly understand him?”
The bearded man chuckled.
“Let’s beat him just enough so he doesn’t die. Get him, boys.”
Four men charged at Jeong Yoo-shin.
Jeong Yoo-shin stood still while observing the approaching men.
“He’s so scared that he can’t even move! Pathetic bastard! Die!!!”
One of the men shouted while swinging his fist.
The fist aimed for Jeong Yoo-shin’s jaw.
Whoosh!!!
The man smirked. To him, the bastard had a disgustingly pretty face.
He had disliked him from the start. His heart pounded at the thought of the man’s jaw shattering and him rolling on the ground.
Just as the man’s fist was about to connect with Jeong Yoo-shin’s jaw…
Jeong Yoo-shin moved his head.
Whoosh.
The fist missed completely.
And then…
Jeong Yoo-shin stepped forward, his fist clenched.
Starting lightly.
A holy one-two.
Bam! Bam!!!
A jab and a straight infused with holy power shattered the man’s nose and teeth.
Broken teeth flew through the air.
“Kyaaagh!!!”
The man screamed while clutching his face.
Jeong Yoo-shin nodded inwardly. Good. The evil spirit was trying to escape.
He followed up with a middle kick to the gut, sending the man flying.
The next man charged in while swinging his fist.
Jeong Yoo-shin quickly leaned back.
A sway.
The fist grazed his nose. He smelled the faint scent of alcohol.
Unbelievable.
‘Drinking before a fight?’
This next guy must be seriously possessed.
He ducked slightly and stepped forward, closing the distance between them.
“Wh-What?!”
With lightning speed, Jeong Yoo-shin delivered a holy liver blow before the man could react.
Thud!!!
Jeong Yoo-shin’s fist smashed through the man’s ribs and slammed into his liver.
Crack!!!
Jeong Yoo-shin felt the sensation of ribs shattering beneath his fist.
“Gah!!!”
The man immediately dropped to his knees. His eyes were bloodshot, and he could barely breathe. Jeong Yoo-shin knew the feeling well.
It was the infamous liver blow, a glancing blow that could drain all the strength from a person’s body. A direct hit meant it was over for this guy.
Jeong Yoo-shin grabbed the man by the hair.
Even the scriptures said that “If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go to hell.”
“You can’t drink anymore, bastard. I saved you. Your suffering liver. From your body.”
“Guh…!”
The man foamed at the mouth and his eyes rolled back.
Suddenly…
A straight punch aimed for his cheek.
The next one.
He released the man’s hair and raised his hand.
Thwack!
Jeong Yoo-shin caught the man’s fist.
The man’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“What…?!”
The man struggled to pull his fist back, but it wouldn’t budge.
Jeong Yoo-shin tightened his grip.
Crack!
“Kyaaaaaaaaaaak!!!”
The man screamed as the bones in his hand shattered.
“Look at him scream. He’s definitely possessed by an evil spirit.”
Wham! Wham! Wham!
He punched the man repeatedly.
One. Two. Three.
With each blow, something on the man’s face caved in while spraying blood.
There were no more screams. The unconscious man collapsed to the ground.
The last man charged in while wearing vicious-looking knuckle dusters.
Jeong Yoo-shin stepped back and delivered a holy low kick.
Crack!!!
His whip-like kick landed just above the man’s knee, shattering his femur. The man’s leg bent at an unnatural angle, and he collapsed like a scarecrow.
Shing.
The bearded man drew his sword. Jeong Yoo-shin clicked his tongue at the sight.
“Tsk. Crossing the line.”
“You son of a bitch!!!”
The bearded man charged. Had he trained in swordsmanship? A wave of killing intent washed over Jeong Yoo-shin, suggesting that the man had seen his share of battles.
But…
[Sacred Weapon]
An arming sword forged of light flashed into existence.
Clang!!!
The man’s sword flew through the air. It wasn’t a parry. The man had simply lost his grip on the sword due to sheer force.
Once again.
[Sacred Weapon]
He willed knuckle dusters into existence.
As soon as he wished for them, they appeared.
Jeong Yoo-shin stepped forward and quickly closed the distance.
The bearded man’s eyes widened.
“W-Wait!!!”
A holy uppercut. A hook.
Wham!!!
The bearded man, his jaw and teeth shattered by the cross combination, stumbled backward.
Jeong Yoo-shin couldn’t end it here.
He quickly reached out and grabbed the bearded man by the hair.
“Get a grip.”
Slap!!!
Several teeth flew out of the man’s mouth as his cheek was struck.
Only then did the man’s eyes flutter open.
Jeong Yoo-shin spoke.
“Buddy, why are you causing trouble in my tavern? What makes you so cocky with those pathetic skills? Are you completely insane?”
Jeong Yoo-shin shook the man by the hair.
“Ugh!”
The man groaned as he was shaken back and forth.
Jeong Yoo-shin raised his hand again. He felt like he needed to slap the man again to feel satisfied.
The man flinched and waved his hands.
“Hand. Hand. Hand! Bastard, put your hand down— Guh!”
“This pathetic bastard… He can’t even speak properly. Hey, Beard, are you possessed by Satan?”
Jeong Yoo-shin asked as he looked into the man’s eyes.
The bearded man trembled and wet his pants.
Pathetic bastard.
Jeong Yoo-shin released the man’s hair and looked around.
No one else was getting up.
The fight was over. Compared to the labyrinth, this was a piece of cake.
“Tarman, bring a chair.”
Jeong Yoo-shin looked around and called out to Tarman.
“Yes!”
Tarman, who had been standing at the inn entrance, quickly brought a chair from inside.
Jeong Yoo-shin sat down on the chair and crossed his arms.
The men were writhing on the ground like worms, shedding tears of repentance and joy.
Well, it was understandable that they would be happy to be free from the evil spirits.
Jeong Yoo-shin watched the mercenaries for a while, then spoke.
“Karin.”
“Hmm?”
Karin replied while flicking her tail.
“Couldn’t you have just taken care of these guys with your skills?”
“…I didn’t want to cause trouble for the inn by acting on my own.”
Jeong Yoo-shin nodded. As it was Karin’s first time working at the inn, she had no choice but to be passive.
It was also his fault for not giving her clear instructions.
“Karin, didn’t anyone else try to stop them?”
“The customers? I told them not to.”
Ah.
So that was why the people who were interested in Karin hadn’t stepped in to help.
“Karin, next time something like this happens, just kick their asses. It’s fine.”
“O-Okay.”
Karin suddenly replied formally.
Just then…
The crowd parted, and people in plate armor appeared. They were the Labyrinth City guards.
But…
They looked strange.
They all had dark circles under their eyes. Their greasy hair was one thing, but some even had dried foam around their mouths.
They looked like overworked assistant managers in a small, family-run business.
They looked exhausted while wearing plate armor and carrying heavy halberds in the scorching heat.
Behind the guards, a line of bound people trailed them like sausages.
Jeong Yoo-shin realized at once.
These troublemakers weren’t the only ones.
One of the guards approached him.
“Barbarian, thank you.”
“Don’t mention it. Tarman, bring a cold beer.”
“No, water, please.”
“Bring him some water.”
“Yes!”
Tarman quickly brought out some water.
The guard gulped down the water and sighed deeply.
“Sigh. No bloodshed. Well fought. If you don’t mind, we’ll take these guys.”
“Go ahead. It seems like a lot of these guys are showing up.”
“There are always a lot during the festival, but there are ‘especially’ many this year. Anyway, thanks for the water. And good work.”
“Yes. You too.”
The crowd dispersed while murmuring. They didn’t forget to glance at Jeong Yoo-shin as they left.
“Let’s go inside. It’s hot out here.”
He went back inside the inn with Tarman, Anne, and Karin. Jeong Yoo-shin sat down at the counter.
Clang!!!
The inn door opened immediately.
Iron Mask was standing there.
“Skar, did you have a brawl? People were talking about you.”
Jeong Yoo-shin crossed his arms with an indifferent expression.
“Just a few weaklings possessed by evil spirits. I exorcised them.”
“I-Is that so?”
Iron Mask was flustered and speechless.
“Tarman, bring Iron Mask some juice.”
“Yes!”
Tarman brought Iron Mask some juice. Iron Mask skillfully drank the juice and nodded.
“Iron Mask, is something the matter? Weren’t we supposed to meet after the festival?”
“I was going to, but this is important.”
“What is it?”
“It’s about your promotion.”
“Ah, right.”
He had forgotten. He had fulfilled all the promotion requirements on his last labyrinth trip. He could be promoted to intermediate-rank explorer at any time.
“I suggest that we go to the Explorer’s Guild together. I heard that it’s not crowded right now. It’s a good opportunity to get promoted quickly.”
“What about the other party members?”
“Priest Kubo is busy with temple duties, and Mars…”
“What about Mars?”
What had happened to that rat beast-person guide?
“He was caught stealing a priestess’ panties.”
“…”
He was speechless.
That idiot.
Iron Mask continued.
“Apparently, he was secretly going through her pockets, and he pulled on the string inside her priestess robes.”
“Alright. I’ve heard enough.”
“…”
The two men sat at the table in silence for a moment.
“So, what happened?”
“You told me not to tell you.”
“I’m calm now. Tell me the rest.”
“He got beaten up pretty badly. He’s in jail right now. I just came back from visiting him.”
“Is there any way we can help?”
“Well, if he gets his imprint checked, it might be considered a mitigating factor. I’m not sure though.”
‘I see.’
Thinking about it again, he was annoyed. While he was fighting possessed lunatics, Mars was getting caught pulling down a priestess’ thong in broad daylight. He deserved what he got.
“But is it alright for us to go without them?”
“I got confirmation from Priest Kubo and Mars. They said that we don’t need to feel sorry for them. They’ll go after the festival.”
“Really? Let’s go then.”
It was better to strike while the iron was hot.
Jeong Yoo-shin looked at Karin and Tarman before leaving the inn.
“I’m going to the Explorer’s Guild. If any riff raff shows up and causes trouble, don’t hold back. Just beat them up.”
“Okay.”
“Yes!”
Jeong Yoo-shin and Iron Mask left the inn and headed to the Explorer’s Guild.
There was a moderate number of people in the building. It wasn’t too crowded.
They approached the receptionist.
“I want to be promoted.”
The dog beast-person receptionist wagged her tail and smiled.
“Ah! Got it. Can I see your guild cards?”
“Here.”
Jeong Yoo-shin and Iron Mask handed over their cards simultaneously.
“Are both of you promoting?”
““Yes.””
“Confirmed. Iron Mask and Skar, you have met the promotion requirements. Please wait a moment.”
“Will it take long?”
“Ah! There are some parts of the documents that need to be reviewed. And I need to get confirmation from the Guild Leader, but he’s currently out, so it might take a little while. But it shouldn’t take too long.”
“Alright.”
Jeong Yoo-shin and Iron Mask left the reception desk and sat down at a table near the request board.
They heard whispers around them.
“That half-blood barbarian is here again.”
“Tsk. He’s still alive.”
Jeong Yoo-shin ignored them and looked up at the ceiling. Iron Mask tried to stand up, but he grabbed his arm and stopped him.
Since they weren’t causing any direct harm, he decided there was no need to make a fuss.
Jeong Yoo-shin and Iron Mask sat quietly and waited.
How much time had passed?
Clang!!!
A door burst open on the second floor of the guild building. The explorers who had been chatting noisily suddenly fell silent.
Footsteps echoed down the stairs in the quiet stillness.
Thud. Thud.
Jeong Yoo-shin looked down.
A giant of a man was carrying someone down the stairs.
Familiar hair color?
Jeong Yoo-shin jumped to his feet.
“Black hair?!!!”
Well over two meters tall.
Thick, rippling muscles that radiated heat.
Long, flowing black hair.
The man, who was wearing only pants, was carrying a naked woman over his shoulder.
The woman’s face was turned away, so he couldn’t identify her.
“…”
Every explorer in the guild froze, holding their breath.
The woman’s buttocks twitched, and a stream of sticky semen oozed out.
Splat!!!
The yellowish semen splashed onto the floor and splattered everywhere.
The black-haired man looked around and licked his lips.
Slurp.
A red tongue darted across his lips, and a few faint-hearted explorers fainted, their heads hitting the table.
Thud. Thud.
With each step the man took, the explorers trembled, unable to move. Like prey before a predator.
The man slowly approached Jeong Yoo-shin.
Jeong Yoo-shin stood up and glared at the man.
Thud.
The man stopped and looked down at Jeong Yoo-shin.
Beast-like eyes gleamed from beneath his long hair.
“Are you that half-blood virgin?”
A deep, abyssal voice resonated throughout the guild.
“…”
Jeong Yoo-shin glared at the man without speaking.
The black-haired man spoke again.
“You lunatic. Who’s your daddy?”
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇
T/N – Damn. What a crazy way to introduce the first interaction the MC has with an actual barbarian. I wonder how this will turn out… Also, that last question reminds me of that cheat from Warcraft 3. Good times.
Also, lol at Mars accidentally stripping a priestess. I can imagine the scene of her panties just dropping and both of them just freezing because of it.
Lastly, yeah, those mercs got beaten badly. Considering that there’s healing magic in this world, I say the MC hasn’t beaten them enough yet.
If you find any mistakes, feel free to point them out in the comments.
that… was quite an introduction.
bruh i don’t get how these barbarians are still alive … normally people would team up and try to exterminate them for this behaviour no ? i mean even if strong they could still be poisoned … i guess in this world the higher ups made some sort of deal ? still the amount of people who hate them should influence the response … i would really like to know more about them . its been 100 chp cmon author explain already
