Yu-ra’s stories about Yellow were quite interesting. They’d known each other for a long time, and Yu-ra wasn’t one to back down easily, so they’d clashed frequently in the beginning, then seemed to have deliberately avoided each other afterwards.

I also learned Yellow’s age. She was 26, a year older than Yu-ra, who was 25, making her older than my Earth identity as well.

A one-year age difference wasn’t usually a big deal. Sometimes, people born just months apart were considered from different seniority levels.

Perhaps that was why Yu-ra and Yellow had clashed so often.

When I asked, “Was age that important?”, Yu-ra said Yellow had never mentioned their age difference. It had just been a personality clash; they’d apparently realized they were incompatible when they first joined Hunter Killer.

The other members, including Ha-yeong, who was still on the team, and those who were no longer present, hadn’t been particularly close either, so no one had tried to mediate their conflict.

Even after Yu-bin became the leader, communication within the team had been poor, and their recent attempts to become closer had reignited the conflict between Yu-ra and Yellow.

“What did you even fight about?”

While she’d mentioned their arguments, she hadn’t given any specific reasons, and I asked, hoping to understand Yellow better.

“I don’t really remember. Mostly trivial stuff. Yellow’s just so rude; we often argued about her tone.”

“…If you fought that much, you must have been quite a handful yourself.”

“Well, I was a bit hot-headed back then. I’d just moved out and was stressed.”

I chuckled, seeing her honestly admit her past flaws with a smile, and she smiled back.

“But Yellow is a bitch. How should I put it? It’s like she goes out of her way to be offensive.”

“But you haven’t really had a proper conversation with her since then, have you?”

Listening to Yu-ra, I realized they hadn’t communicated much since their initial disagreements. Their current opinions of each other were based on assumptions and speculation, not actual interaction.

Of course, assumptions and speculations about someone you knew, even indirectly, were often accurate.

While it was important to form your own opinions based on personal experience, what you heard from others often aligned with your own observations later on.

While Yu-ra was sharing her perspective on Yellow, I didn’t think my own impression would be drastically different if I met her.

Of course, there were exceptions. If someone was inherently biased and spoke carelessly about others, you should question their judgment. But Yu-ra wasn’t like that.

She’d mentioned Green’s situation while talking about their argument. She’d only referred to it as a “family matter,” without going into detail, even though I wouldn’t have known.

Sharing someone’s personal struggles with a third party wasn’t easy, especially since Green’s situation wasn’t something to be taken lightly.

That made me trust Yu-ra even more. She’d been considerate, explaining the situation without revealing sensitive information, while also expressing her own frustration with Yellow’s insensitivity.

“Would she even tell me? After talking to Green like that.”

I couldn’t help but side with Yu-ra. I cared about both Yu-ra and Green, and I had a deeper connection with Yu-ra. I understood why she was upset with Yellow, who’d been so insensitive towards Green, and I also felt a sense of resentment towards Yellow.

“I was just asking. There’s no need to talk about it if you don’t get along.”

Yu-ra frowned, perhaps thinking I was suggesting she try to befriend Yellow. I placed my finger between her furrowed brows, smoothing them out.

There was no need to force a friendship with someone you didn’t get along with. It was a universal truth. While there was always a possibility of connection, of bridging the gap, there was no point in forcing it.

It would only lead to more stress for everyone involved.

“Anyway, we’re still having drinks tonight.”

“Suddenly?”

While I’d been expecting it, this was the first time I was hearing about Yellow from Yu-ra. So, while not entirely unexpected, it was still a bit sudden.

“Is that a problem?”

“Not really.”

Her hesitant tone, checking my reaction, was endearing, and after making sure no one was coming, I pulled her close and kissed her.

“Hmm, mm…”

She kissed me back, our tongues tangling, our breaths mingling, and a string of saliva connected our lips as we parted.

“Let’s have drinks after work.”

“Okay.”

We went to her place after our shift and had drinks, which, inevitably, led to another passionate night. While it had only been a week since our last encounter, her alluring body, so captivating, was still soft and welcoming. I wondered if I’d been too rough, but Yu-ra’s moans encouraged me, and we continued our passionate embrace until morning, both of us having to work the next day.

After my Sunday shift at the cafe, I didn’t go straight home. I had somewhere to go.

I took the subway, got off a few stops later, and walked to an apartment building.

I took the elevator to the top floor, rang the doorbell, and heard a voice from inside.

“Yes~”

“It’s me,” I replied casually to the familiar voice, and I heard footsteps approaching the door. The door opened, and Ha-yeong, her long blue hair in its usual bun, greeted me with a smile.

“You’re here? Come in.”

“What are you so happy about?”

I asked, smiling at her uncontainable joy, and she chuckled and scratched her cheek, embarrassed.

“Was it that obvious? I was just happy you were coming.”

Her words, a direct confession of her happiness at seeing me, made me feel warm inside.

“Were you home all day?”

“Yes, no meetings, and I was looking for a job.”

Since moving in, Ha-yeong had been attending Hunter Killer meetings and looking for work on her days off. I’d told her I couldn’t visit during the week because of work.

I’d told her my helping her move was because I’d taken vacation days, and while it had only been four days since then, Ha-yeong’s happiness at seeing me was evident.

“How was the meeting?”

I wanted to know how she felt about the meetings, since she’d rarely attended them before.

“It was fine.”

I was a little concerned because of the incident with Yellow two days after we’d slept together. I’d hoped she’d finally be able to communicate with her team members, but that hadn’t been the case.

While I was also worried about Green, Ha-yeong’s situation, Yu-ra’s involvement in the argument, and the added stress on Yu-bin… everything concerned me.

I’d come to Ha-yeong’s apartment today to check on her. I didn’t think the argument between Yellow and the other members would affect her too much. She was the oldest member of the team, and her mental fortitude was, by far, the strongest among the superhumans I’d met.

She’d endured a decade of living with her terrible sister-in-law, after all. This wouldn’t faze her, but I still couldn’t help but worry, considering our relationship and my commitment to her.

“That’s good to hear.”

As we walked down the hallway to the living room, the aroma of a delicious dinner filled the air.

“Something smells good. What did you do today?”

“I made this and that, since you were coming. Oh, are there any foods you don’t like? I’ll avoid them next time.”

She went to the kitchen, still busy with dinner preparations, and asked about my food preferences as she carefully plated the spicy seafood stew she’d made.

Watching her, wearing an apron, diligently preparing dinner, I felt a sense of pride and admiration.

I walked up behind her and gently wrapped my arms around her waist, careful not to startle her as I held her close, and she jumped slightly, then smiled and looked up at me.

While she was relatively small compared to the other Hunter Killer members, she seemed larger than life in this moment. Certain parts of her were just as ample as the other members, though.

Anyway, our eyes met, and I held her closer.

“What?”

Even the way she asked, her voice rising slightly at the end, was cute. While some might find it annoying, I found it endearing, fitting her personality.

“Just… you look amazing.”

“I think you’re much more amazing.”

She placed the dish on the stove, turned around, and wrapped her arms around my waist.

“How was your day?”

I couldn’t tell her the truth about my work, but I could at least be honest about my feelings.

“It was okay, but also… tiring.”

No matter how enjoyable, work was still work. Ha-yeong, hearing my honest confession, reached out and stroked my hair.

“You worked hard today, honey.”

I’d initially been holding her, but I’d gradually lowered myself, now kneeling, my head resting against her chest, her arms around me.

“Dinner’s ready, so what do you want to do first? Eat? Bath? Or…”

“You, honey.”

“Huh…? Kyaa!”

I chose Ha-yeong over dinner and a bath, and after our passionate interlude, which delayed our bath, we finally had dinner, though, on second thought, wasn’t Ha-yeong the main course all along?

After dinner, I lay on the sofa with my head on Ha-yeong’s lap. As I watched TV, I glanced up at her, but her ample breasts obscured her face, and she, sensing my gaze, tilted her head down slightly, our eyes meeting.

“Honey, do you have something to say?”

“Did you notice?”

“Kind of?”

I’d been trying to find the right moment to ask her something. I was still curious about Yellow, about whom I had a negative impression and little information, and I wondered if Ha-yeong, who’d known her much longer than Yu-ra, might know something.

“Can you tell me about your teammates?”

I didn’t want to single out Yellow, which would be suspicious, so I asked about the entire team.

“Are you curious?”

“Just… curious about your colleagues.”

“Then who should I start with?”

“Hmm… Yellow?”

I instinctively named Yellow, the most enigmatic member, when she asked who I wanted to know about, and Ha-yeong, not suspecting anything, started talking about her.

“How should I put it… she’s quiet, but also… intense.”

While my initial impression of Yellow had been formed by the argument, hearing both Yu-ra and Ha-yeong describe her as quiet suggested she was generally reserved.

“And she’s… clumsy.”

“Clumsy?”

“Yeah, like… what she thinks and what she says are different.”

“You think so? Or do you know for sure?”

“I think so. We haven’t really had any deep conversations. But honey, don’t you have anything you want to ask me?”

“Ask you?”

She smiled, a playful glint in her eyes, and cupped my face in her hands, pulling me closer, despite my having only asked about Yellow so far.

“…Do you want to do it again?”

I’d suspected as much, but seeing her nod shyly, I decided to put my questions about Yellow on hold.

Monday morning, Hunter Killer meeting room.

Unlike usual, more than half the team was present at the start of the week.

Red, Pink, and Blue were already there, chatting about the weather and the news, when Green arrived.

“Hi.”

“Welcome. It’s hot out there, isn’t it?”

“Yes, it is.”

Green’s forehead was dotted with sweat from the heat.

It wasn’t time for the meeting yet, and they weren’t sure if Yellow would even come, so they hadn’t started.

And then Yellow, whom they’d assumed wouldn’t show up, entered the meeting room. Sensing their gazes on her, she looked at them.

“What? Why?”

Pink and Blue were staring, and Yellow immediately picked up on the unusual atmosphere.

“Since everyone’s here, should we start the meeting?”

Red, trying to break the tension, started the meeting. However, one thought occupied everyone’s minds.

‘Why did A ask about Yellow?’

‘Is he curious about Yellow?’

They hadn’t thought much of A’s question at the time, but seeing Yellow at the meeting made them self-conscious, and Yellow, sensing their scrutiny, sat through the meeting, thinking,

‘I want to go to the arcade…’
