Charlotte ended up staying up for another full day.

‘Amazing progress.’

When would she ever again have the opportunity to train with such a desperate heart?

In any case, the girl’s body had firmly memorized the principles of “Strength Enhancement” and “Elemental Fusion.”

The principles that had been mere letters on paper were now etched into her body like invisible tattoos.

Fwhoosh!

Now, she could clearly grasp the state of her body even with her eyes closed.

Flames enveloped her legs, and now, with each step, red mana footprints were left behind.

The sense of accomplishment was incredible.

‘I can maintain it for about a minute now.’

The material stated that the limit of “Body Enhancement Through Elements” was, at best, about three minutes.

She could already manage a third of that, so it could be considered remarkable progress.

“…Still, it’s not enough, is it?”

If she had more time, it would be a different story, but unfortunately, the academy-wide competition was fast approaching.

Yes, she couldn’t afford to be satisfied with “remarkable” just yet.

She couldn’t be satisfied until she received recognition in the academy-wide competition.

“Next.”

As she turned to the next page, blood dripped onto the paper.

Come to think of it, her nose hadn’t stopped bleeding since dawn.

It would stop for a moment, then start flowing again, and just when she thought it had finally stopped, it would start again.

She rolled up some tissue and stuffed it back into her nostril.

She couldn’t stop just because of a nosebleed.

“Straight to the advanced level…”

The difference in strokes between the previous sections and the section labeled “Application” was over 20, just counting the lines.

Moreover, until now, the shapes used in the formulas had been fixed as “circles.”

But from here on, squares and triangles were added.

“…This is ridiculously difficult.”

Still, if someone were to ask, “Are you giving up?” she would vehemently shake her head.

Adrian already occupied a significant place in Charlotte’s heart.

Application of Two Mixed Elements

Application of Body Enhancement Through Elements

She had to finish these two sections today.

“Cramming” didn’t even begin to describe it; “comet-crashing” would be a more appropriate term.

She immediately put it into practice.

The act of drawing complex formulas with mana put a strain on her body, but she should be fine for now.

She had to be.

The training ground facilities were incredibly good.

For example, there were multiple circulation devices installed to gradually replenish the students’ mana.

So, she should be alright.

She took a deep breath and began drawing the strokes.

Ding—

Suddenly, a ringing resonated in her head, accompanied by pain.

She stopped drawing the formula and clutched her head.

“…What?”

Ziiiing—

Perhaps she had pushed herself too hard.

Her head buzzed, as if it were ringing.

The nosebleed worsened.

She could feel the blood flowing even with the tissue plugging her nose.

“Annoying…”

Charlotte tried to ignore it and continue studying.

No, she tried to continue, but her legs gave way, and she collapsed.

“Uh…”

As she sat there, she finally saw her reflection in a mirror placed in a corner of the training grounds.

“Is…is that me…?”

The girl touched her face.

Dark circles had formed under her eyes.

But even then, Charlotte wasn’t surprised by the dark circles.

She was more surprised and disappointed that she hadn’t fully mastered the materials during the time it took for those dark circles to appear.

“This is crazy.”

If she hadn’t mastered the materials in this state, how much more disappointed would he be?

This was entirely Charlotte’s fault.

At least, that’s what Charlotte believed.

“I have to… I have to…”

She tried to stand up with renewed determination, but her legs completely ignored her will.

She couldn’t stand.

“Why? Listen to me.”

Frustrated, Charlotte pounded her calf with her fist.

But the sensation in her fist, and the sensation in her calf, were both dull.

…Was she sleepy, or in pain?

Either, or both, wouldn’t be surprising.

“Just a little more…”

She tried to overcome it through sheer willpower, but the accumulated physical fatigue wasn’t something she could easily shake off.

Charlotte briefly lost consciousness, and other students began to gather around her.

She disliked the feeling of people crowding around her, so she tried to regain her senses, but Isabel’s voice reached her first.

“Charlotte, haven’t you been like this since yesterday? Shouldn’t you rest?”

“…No.”

“Charlotte—”

Isabel continued to murmur something, but Charlotte couldn’t hear her, as if she were listening underwater.

Then, she heard a whisper.

You’re hated.

It was a child’s voice. But that made it even more chilling.

You’re hated. Very hated.
I wish you were dead.
Why don’t you kill yourself? Why don’t you kill yourself? Why don’t you kill yourself?
You’re useless.

“Ah…”

At the same time, she felt something entering her body.

Finally, Charlotte lost consciousness.

Normally, it would be time for lectures, but I was in the reception room, observing Regita and Lepista.

“Sniffle… sniffle… sob…”

Lepista was still sniffling, but she was no longer wailing with tears streaming down her face like a monsoon.

It seemed she had finally accepted the reality of having to live with Regita.

In any case, thanks to Vivian, I could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Freed from Lepista, I devoted all my energy to creating materials for Charlotte.

Of course, I focused most of my attention on Charlotte’s materials, but that didn’t mean I neglected the other students.

I ended up staying up all night.

Thankfully, it wasn’t a sleepless night without results.

‘I hope Charlotte likes the materials.’

I had thoroughly examined Charlotte’s past.

I selected the magic her parents excelled in that would be useful in the upcoming competition and boldly excluded anything that seemed too time-consuming.

Mindset was important, but so was time.

Since there wasn’t much time left until the competition, my policy was to cut anything that seemed like it would take too long.

I also needed to transfer Lepista’s power to Charlotte soon… It was about time, wasn’t it?

If there was anything I was anxious about, it was that.

Just as I finished preparing to see the students…

“Eeeeeeek!”

“Oh.”

Lepista suddenly yanked Regita’s Hair, causing Regita to momentarily drop her.

Thud, Lepista fell to the floor.

Regita immediately tried to pick her up, but as if waiting for this exact moment, Lepista’s eyes began to glow.

Flash!

“Yes. Yes. Yes. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

Regita picked up Lepista and bowed repeatedly towards me.

With each bow, her long horns smashed into the furniture in the reception room.

“Stop, stop it.”

After calming Regita down, I first surveyed the surroundings.

“Lepista, you rascal. What magic did you just use?”

“I don’t know… I don’t know…”

Lepista buried her face in Regita’s chest, as if nothing had happened. Now that I looked, Regita’s chest was bigger than Lepista’s entire face.

“This is crazy.”

I quickly scanned the surroundings.

Did she summon skeletons again?

Or blow up part of the building?

Or open a gate to the Demon Realm?

But the academy was peaceful, not even a single alarm bell ringing.

I urgently grabbed Lepista’s cheeks.

“Tell me. What did you do? Lepista, be a good girl, okay?”

“…”

Lepista mumbled something hesitantly, then…

“Papa hates that person, Lepista hates too. But I didn’t interfere…”

With that, Lepista buried her face back into Regita’s chest.

“She did something without interfering… and someone I hate…”

Had Lepista’s power finally been transferred to Charlotte?

It was a highly probable guess.

Come to think of it, I couldn’t feel Lepista’s mana, which had been supplementing my dark mana.

That’s right.

Lepista’s power had finally been transferred to Charlotte!

Then, all that remained was to clear up the misunderstanding with Charlotte.

Good, it seemed it wasn’t too late.

There was still some time left until the competition.

Just as I was about to leave the reception room…

Knock, knock, knock!

Someone knocked urgently on the door.

I gripped the doorknob, preventing the other side from opening it.

“Adrian! Adrian, are you in there?”

It was the Headmaster’s voice.

“Yes. What is it?”

“Charlotte collapsed… I think you need to come see her! Quickly!”

And she informed me that Charlotte had collapsed.

I don’t understand the change of Regita, like, she just become a submissive servant just like that? For having her horns touched? 💀

Well, considering they usually have a bunch of magic layered over them to protect them, I guess they’re an extreme weak point? Like a Saiyan’s tail or something. Not sure why touching them induces memory loss though. Maybe they’re connected to or come into contact with the brain?
