54th day since Luthers Edan went missing during the operation.

“Lea! Are you here!?”

Bang!

As soon as she opened her eyes, a silver-haired woman in combat uniform rushed in. It was Major General Arwen Orka.

Since the disappearance of Fortress Commander Major General Luthers Edan, she had been single-handedly managing the fortress and commanding the front lines as the acting commander.

“Sister Arwen?”

“His location has been confirmed!! Before starting the rescue operation, we’ll quickly do a headcount first! Get up quickly!”

As soon as she heard those words, the drowsiness that had been lingering disappeared. Lea jumped out of bed as if bouncing and hurriedly started putting on her combat uniform.

She put on her helmet with the major’s insignia, grabbed the rifle that was standing in the corner of the room, and ran out. It had been almost two months since Commander Luthers Edan, who had gone out for a front-line inspection, disappeared along with the reconnaissance unit.

When she heard the news that the reconnaissance regiment had been attacked by Titan forces lying in ambush, she thought Luthers would definitely return as if to prove a point. He was the one who would slaughter all the Titans and return even from an operation that was absolutely impossible.

It was only natural if it was natural. Because Luthers was a regressor.

A lonely warrior who stepped over countless deaths and moved forward. He was a scapegoat who carried the fate of his comrades in the Graveyard, including herself, and furthermore, the fate of the Empire, as the Empire’s watchman and the lion of defense.

However, when a week passed and there was no news from the front lines, Arwen and Lea gathered the executives stationed all over the Graveyard in one place. The spearhead of humanity and the huge shield in charge of the entire Graveyard.

Headquarters Logistics Staff Officer Colonel Charlotte Evergreen.
1st Assault Brigade Commander Major General Drake Brown.
8th Armored Brigade Commander Major General Heinz Bismarck.
3rd Aviation Brigade Commander Major General Lydia Glenova.

They were all officers fighting together under Luthers Edan, and at the same time, people who shared the fact that Luthers Edan was a regressor.

-We can only think that he regressed again this time.

-Damn it, how can such a large-scale force pop out in the occupied territory!?

-Heinz, calm down. Even the Major General didn’t know about it.

-The Titans are becoming more and more cunning as the days go by. Sometimes I feel like… they might be regressing together with us.

-Stop with the ominous talk, Charlotte.

-I know it’s an ominous story too. But damn it, I feel like I’m going to die from frustration!

-Was the operation plan leaked? I heard the Titans can now analyze electronic signals.

-That’s why the Communications Battalion is randomly broadcasting jamming waves. There’s no way the operation plan was leaked. This time, it was really just bad luck, nothing more…

-Lydia, how is the aerial search going?

-We’re doing our best, but… there are no results. Rather, due to the reckless reconnaissance, the losses of the Aviation Brigade are severe. Just yesterday, two helicopters were shot down.

-The complaints from the soldiers must be no joke…

-I don’t care if I get pulled down. But sacrificing innocent soldiers is completely different, isn’t it? You know, right? The sight of those who fought together losing hope and dying!

-I’m sorry, Lydia. I didn’t mean to…

-I never thought the commander’s absence would be felt this severely.

Objectively speaking, their abilities were not lacking. If they were lacking, Luthers Edan wouldn’t have kept them by his side in the first place, even restoring their memories.

Nevertheless, they couldn’t be compared to the ‘superhuman’ Luthers Edan, who shattered all hardships and adversities like a bulldozer and moved forward. They were, after all, only given a portion of his authority.

They were no more than ordinary people who couldn’t even reach his toes. Because bearing the role of a ‘shepherd’ who led people forward by repeating countless deaths was too heavy to bear alone.

Even those who fought alongside Luthers Edan could do nothing more than be his support. No matter what happens, carry out the given orders and share the commander’s sorrow.

In the end, what was decided at that meeting was to somehow endure until the entire timeline was turned back. The last order Luthers Edan had left them before leaving was to maintain the front lines.

Dedicate your life for the victory of humanity. If it was the Luthers Edan they knew, he would definitely turn back time even if it meant ending his life.

It would be best if he returned with a smile as if to prove a point, but they were also prepared to humbly accept the worst future. That was the reason they were called the ghosts trapped in the Graveyard.

But a month passed, a month and a half passed, and the world didn’t turn back. Everyone was thrown into confusion.

The Supreme Command arbitrarily judged that Luthers Edan had died during the operation and tried to hand over the control of the Graveyard Fortress and the entire region to someone else. If Arwen Orka hadn’t personally visited the headquarters and caused a scene, it would have surely turned out that way.

Akasha. The maintenance of Akasha couldn’t be handed over to just anyone. It was the formula for victory that Luthers Edan had left behind through 34 deaths.

If a new commander was assigned to the fortress, control of Akasha in charge of the Graveyard would also be handed over. They couldn’t predict what kind of butterfly effect that would bring, so they rebelled against the Supreme Command in a form close to insubordination.

In the end, even Arthur Philias had no choice but to raise both hands in surrender. Perhaps they were seen as pitiful zealots who couldn’t accept the death of a competent commander and declared to die together.

However, in the process, the situation in the entire Graveyard deteriorated day by day. Two forward bases were captured overnight.

Among the forward bases, a firepower base where a large number of missile batteries were installed was also included. The eastern front was completely pushed back by a large-scale offensive, and they heard that the entire military district had been annihilated.

The situation on the western front was not good either. The number of casualties, which had exceeded 100 per day on average, jumped to over 1,000, and now it was approaching 2,000.

The front lines were collapsing. Not only the central front in charge of the Graveyard but the entire human race was collapsing. With the defeat that could be felt on their skin, officers and soldiers alike were gradually losing their minds.

In the midst of that, the news of Luthers Edan’s survival arrived.

“Where, how did they find him!?”

“Brigade Commander Lydia threw in all the drones she had. All forty were shot down, but they confirmed the commander’s identification signal at the front-line fortress.”

“Ah…!!”

Lea Gilliard was overjoyed. She was so happy that she even shed tears.

As long as he was alive, that was enough. They could rise again.

Even if his legs were cut off, even if his arms were cut off, they would replace them with prosthetic limbs and stand up again. It wasn’t over until they squeezed out and extinguished all the flames of life.

As always, Luthers Edan would embrace her and smile at her with a hearty laugh. Major Lea Gilliard immediately finished arming herself and headed to the drill ground of the Graveyard.

Everyone else had determined expressions as well. Lea had a brief conversation with her supply unit members and immediately stood on the drill ground.

On the podium, Arwen Orka, who was also in a state of full readiness, was looking down at the fortress troops. Lea glanced at Arwen and spoke to Major General Drake, the assault brigade commander, who was standing next to her.

“I don’t see Charlotte.”

“She said she had to urgently go to the Armory. The permission to use the prototype of the new weapon she mentioned before has finally been granted.”

“She’s really… amazing.”

“You mean it.”

Major General Drake, who was as huge as a dinosaur, shrugged his shoulders and said. Just as Arwen Orka was about to grab the microphone and explain the outline of the rescue operation.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy-!!!!

Along with the sound of the siren that seemed to tear the eardrums, the fortress’s defense system began to operate. It didn’t take long for everyone in the Graveyard to realize what was happening.

Countless missiles were pouring down from the sky. The firepower base.

They were missiles fired from the firepower base that had been captured last night.

“Air raid, it’s an air raid!!! Everyone evacuate!!”

With Arwen’s scream-like shout, the fortress’s anti-aircraft batteries began to respond all at once. But it was not enough.

A few missiles directly hit the fortress. Kwang!! As a huge explosion occurred, the solid fortress wall collapsed.

Lea was thrown to the ground by the missile that exploded at close range. Wait a minute.

That’s where our supply unit members were standing…

In front of her eyes, she saw the traces of someone scattered in pieces. In the burning flames, the figures of pitch-black people were screaming and writhing.

“Ah?”

“Get up, Lea!! Pull yourself together!!”

Drake helped her up. Hearing the sound of the fortress wall collapsing, bang, kwang! Lea and Drake ran and ran.

The missiles were fired? How on earth? The Titans have now learned the human weapon system?

Lea was forcibly led by Drake, but countless questions came to her mind. However, she couldn’t find the answers to those questions.

“Wait, Lea, stop!! Something from the ground…!? Kraaaaah!?”

Grrrrrrrrrrr. The ultra-large Titan, Ouroboros, revealed its body in the middle of the drill ground.

The heaving, rising ground, along with Drake, who was standing on it, was swept into the huge maw of Ouroboros. If Drake hadn’t desperately pushed Lea away, she would have been caught up in it too.

“Drake!!!!”

At the loss of her comrade that took place before her eyes, Lea Gilliard roared miserably and pulled the trigger towards the huge steel snake. Tudadadadada!!

However, rifle bullets that couldn’t easily catch even small Titans would never work on an ultra-large one. Click, click!

With the magazine that had been emptied in an instant, the dumbfounded Lea sat down on the spot.

“Luthers.”

The last thing she saw was the army of numerous Titans pouring out of Ouroboros’s body. That day, the Graveyard was thoroughly violated by the Titans and eventually captured.

And at that moment.

“Commander… This is the end for me…”

“…You’ve worked hard. Durand Sterling. Leave the rest to me.”

“As always, I’ll leave it to you.”

Luthers Edan closed the eyes of Durand, the reconnaissance regimental commander who had somehow saved him and brought him back from the frontmost trench, commonly known as the ‘Infinite Labyrinth’, which had been occupied by the Titans.

Now he had to return to the headquarters. To that place where everyone was waiting for him.

Ok. So Luthers is actually superhuman with an ability of regression. Combined with the supercomputer Akasha that can time travel due to some quantum mechanics, they are able to hold the memories of people and replant them in future timelines. Luthers is the trigger since it’s his ability, and Akasha is the save file. Luthers can choose who to replant the memories off, most likely his officers and not the grunt soldiers.
