She confidently declared.

However, Jekkiel was the one who seemed overflowing with confidence, rather than Christine.

Christine.

Her determination was exceptionally firm.

The beads of sweat dotting her entire body clearly showed how focused she was at that moment.

“This is Queen’s Nest.”

“I know.”

“Why aren’t you escaping it? You have more than enough life force to do so.”

Christine asked, gritting her teeth.

But the answer that came back was nonchalant.

“You said you wanted to see my sincerity.”

“I did say that.”

“Then look.”

Phew.

He adjusted his breathing.

Christine’s red eyes slowly settled down.

Yes, for now, she had to think only of that.

The truth had almost appeared right before her eyes.

What could be more foolish than tightly shutting her eyes at that moment?

“Yes. Let’s see.”

Christine slightly twisted her wrist.

The tip of the raised rapier pointed towards Jekkiel.

Despite clearly seeing that, Jekkiel didn’t budge at all.

His composure made Christine feel a bit indignant.

I made a very significant resolve.

Does that not matter to you at all?

The movement of the rapier was honest.

It drew a straight line as upright as its owner’s personality, thrusting forward.

Kwaaak!

The brutal sound of something sharp piercing through flesh.

The one pierced was Jekkiel, but the one whose eyes had widened was Christine.

“…Why aren’t you dodging?”

Christine knew it was a foolish question.

In any case, within Queen’s Nest, her rapier was guaranteed to hit.

Even if he tried to dodge, it was impossible to avoid.

However, she couldn’t help but wonder why he didn’t even attempt to block it.

“It seems like this is also part of your question.”

“Pardon?”

“That is my answer.”

Christine, struck in a vital point, bit her lip.

What she had feared was gradually becoming a reality.

At this rate, she would face the truth that would overturn the thought she had harbored for a thousand years.

It was anticipated, yet it was also frightening.

She hoped for it, yet she also didn’t want to.

She herself couldn’t suppress this chaotic feeling.

The emotions that hadn’t been sorted out were mercilessly clawing at Christine’s heart.

That’s why she drew out another rapier.

She put as much strength into her hand as possible, to steady her mind.

Kwak!

This time too, Jekkiel didn’t budge at all.

Rather, almost as if he himself felt more at ease doing this, with a slightly relieved expression, he simultaneously spat out breath and blood.

The number of rapiers piercing his body was already at two.

Gasping for breath, Christine asked.

“What do you think of me?”

“My fiancé”

“I’m not asking about such an empty title. What do you think of me?”

“What do I think of you…”

Jekkiel fell into contemplation, but his contemplation wasn’t long.

“Pitiful.”

“Pitiful…?”

Christine’s teeth gritted, making a crunching sound as she repeated Jekkiel’s answer.

He was an arrogant one.

He had been like that since they first met.

Using the reason of being a vampire lord, he looked down on and ignored everyone, and had no mercy for those under his command.

Unable to bear it anymore, Christine had stepped forward.

She accepted his proposal of engagement and tried her best to moderate him by his side.

So did he change?

He didn’t change.

Did he keep his promise with Christine?

He didn’t keep it.

They were lonely vampires.

Both Jekkiel and Christine were like that.

He acted as if he had everything, but in the end, nothing remained by his side.

In Christine’s case, she was lonely because almost everything had been taken away by Jekkiel.

She had sympathized with him a little.

It was rather Christine who had thought his life, consisting of only a shell, as pitiful.

But at the same time, she hated him.

Disposing of him, whose very existence was sinful, became a mission.

And so she had intended to kill him directly with her own hands.

However, one day, he suddenly appeared on his own two feet.

His face when he appeared at Christine’s coronation was quite different.

Still with a tired and lonely appearance, but there was something underlying the depths of his eyes.

A sort of goal that wasn’t there before.

A conviction.

There was no need to ponder deeply about what actions he took after reappearing.

He had helped Christine.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he helped by sacrificing his body.

However.

“Is that so?”

After exploiting Christine for a thousand years, his feelings towards Christine, whom he reunited with after a few hundred years, were mere pity and sympathy.

So,

Only now, after feeling such emotions, you did those things?

Pitiful.

Those words pierced Christine’s heart like an awl.

Wasn’t it you, who made me pitiful?

This time too, the impression Christine felt towards Jekkiel was no different.

He was mocking and ridiculing Christine like a toy…

“Just that. Just… those feelings…!”

Christine’s face distorted like a demon.

Kwaak-!

Another rapier pierced through Jekkiel’s chest.

As if three were too much for him, Jekkiel staggered, vomiting blood.

“Out of pity… Out of pity? Can you, can you say that to me!”

Even though she had already stabbed three, she couldn’t stop.

Is this what it’s like to be engulfed in anger?

The resentment she had accumulated and accumulated over time finally erupted.

Grabbing Jekkiel’s shoulders, she continued to stab with the rapiers.

Kwak–!

She stabbed three more in, but her anger didn’t subside.

But this time as well, the one trembling wasn’t Jekkiel but Christine.

Finally, Jekkiel collapsed.

Christine, straddling him, widened her eyes while gripping another rapier.

Jekkiel had actually cared for Christine.

What kind of foolish notion was this? Of course.

“Coexistence of the human world and demon realm… Did you spout such words to mock me? No, you must have. You’re that kind of man!”

Cough, cough.

Jekkiel spat out blood.

It must not have been easy even to do that while lying down.

“It’s the truth.”

“Enough with the lies. I’m sick of it!”

She gripped the rapier with both hands.

If she stabbed just one more, Jekkiel would die now.

He would never breathe again.

“Even if it’s the truth.”

As he answered, he let out a bittersweet laugh.

He stared blankly at Christine straddling him.

“And, I wholly like pitiful things. I didn’t say you were pitiful to mock you.”

His attitude as he said that was too calm.

As if nothing was even happening to his body.

“If I was the Sin of Pride, I might have mocked you. But I’m currently a professor in the human world. I’m teaching students I like. Pitiful students.”

Come to think of it, that was right.

When she went to find Jekkiel, he was at Rahel Academy.

Christine had been thinking all along that his goal was to cause internal strife.

“Well… Rather than words, it would be better for you to see for yourself.”

With that, Jekkiel struggled to take out something from his pocket.

What he took out were a few pieces of crumpled paper, soaked in blood and dyed completely red.

Since the letters were written in blue mana, there was no problem reading the text.

Jekkiel handed them to Christine to take and read.

Event Horizon, Burning Buster, Plasma Chain Cutter, etc.

They were all magic spells used by human mages.

And these were explanatory notes about them.

Christine looked down at Jekkiel with a somewhat dazed expression.

He had a small smile on his face.

“They’re materials I use during lectures. They seem to be quite effective. Recently, I even received words of gratitude from a student.”

Yes, even Christine, a vampire, could feel how considerate these materials were.

…Why are you showing me this now of all times?

An indescribable emotion surged through Christine’s entire body.

“Is that why you gave up being the Sin of Pride?”

“That’s right.”

“Why… didn’t you tell me?”

Blood flowed from Christine’s bitten lips.

She stared intently at Jekkiel.

“If that was the reason, why didn’t you tell me? Even if I found it strange, I would have welcomed it in the end, so why did you hide it so tightly…”

“Because you’re my fiancé.”

Christine stopped breathing.

It felt as if her nonexistent heart had stopped for a moment.

It was an inefficient and underhanded conversation.

He spoke nonchalantly, but Christine had to shudder with each word she heard.

She almost dropped the rapier.

It seemed like it would break again.

He continued speaking too calmly.

“For the coexistence of the demon realm and human world, a few inevitable deaths are necessary. And among those deaths, mine is inevitably included. How could a demon professor survive? I will die at the hands of the students I nurtured.”

With each letter, each word she heard, her heart trembled.

She had tried to force herself to hate this man, even if it was unreasonable.

She had stabbed him with six rapiers.

However, it seemed like a meaningless struggle.

“The world of coexistence will finally come. But if you can’t live to enjoy that world, it would be quite bitter for me as your fiancé.”

Then he even joked.

“Well, but instead of my students’ hands… I might die right here and now.”

Knowing the intention behind that joke, she felt a surge of emotion.

Even at this very moment, he was trying to ease Christine’s tension.

She remembered everything he had said but couldn’t believe it.

So she had pressed and pressed Jekkiel.

In a situation where one’s life was hanging by a thread, none would tell lies.

That was the only way she could hear his true feelings.

But the sincere feelings she heard from him were ultimately about keeping his promise to Christine.

He had kept his promise.

Now there was no room for doubt.

“…No.”

Only then did Christine realize.

What she had stabbed and pierced with the rapier wasn’t simply Jekkiel’s body.

She had stabbed the feelings of hatred and the resentment she had accumulated towards him, and his words were the decisive blow.

Finally, that knotted mass unraveled.

The frozen heart melted and surged up.

Christine seemed to vaguely know the name of this emotion.

“You won’t die here.”

The sound of the rapier falling to the floor was heard with a clink.

Christine slowly lowered her head.

Her silver-white hair covered Jekkiel’s face, forming a curtain.

Within the obscured vision, she felt a soft and fluffy sensation.

She had felt it recently too, but this one was a bit deeper.

Embracing Jekkiel’s face, she continued kissing him.

Their breaths intermingled.

At some point, Christine was sharing breaths with the one she had hated more than anyone else.

“…Jekkiel.”

After the kiss.

Both Christine’s and Jekkiel’s physical conditions had recovered.

What influenced the effect of their life force was their mutual state of mind.

She had never even imagined such a day would come.

Her face felt hot.

But Christine could now be quite certain.

From now on, whenever she encountered this man, her face would feel hot like this.

“My interrogation won’t end with just one. I’ll do it once a week.”

Each time, she would use Queen’s Nest.

So, each time, they would have to recover their life force.

“Are you done saying everything that’s on your mind?”

“One more thing remains.”

She cut off Jekkiel’s words.

There was still one more thing left to stab.

“The ring…”

Not stabbing with a rapier, but with words.

“Give it back to me.”

After fifteen hundred years, Christine finally had a fiancé.

Jekkiel is gonna be hurt more by “his” treasure being taken than the rapier

This romantic scene sits wrong with me, and I figured out why quickly. Jekkiel has been lying by omission in multiple ways over the years but in this case, he is repeatedly lying to Christines face directly saying he is her fiancé for his goals. The actual Jekkiel is functionally dead and in this case and she is getting herself into a toxic relationship again I can only call it pitiful.

So the point of stabbing him was to put Adrian near death to try and get an honest answer…. That was dumb.
