Jeong Yoo-shin looked around.

All four sides were enclosed by a round, circular barrier.

The bald man and the rat beast-person froze, bewildered.

Saul’s eyes widened.

“Th-This is?”

“That’s right. A barrier spell.”

“You crazy bastard!!!”

At Jeong Yoo-shin’s words, Saul gritted his teeth.

To think he was this crazy. Saul hadn’t even considered this.

He had actually requested help from several clans to catch this Skar bastard. Since they had done many deals together, he hadn’t doubted their support.

But…

For some reason, every clan had refused, expressing difficulties.

The reason was that their current situation was tough.

Saul had accepted it.

After all, now was the time to advance into other districts and get a piece of the pie.

Still, he had prepared thoroughly.

He hired a rat beast-person named Pointed-Tooth who handled deadly poison.

And he had also been able to find a human named Ben, who had the Magic Seal imprint.

He had modified the gambling den, laid all sorts of traps, and prepared assassins.

He had paid a hefty price to catch one man, but he had no regrets.

At least, not until he saw this bastard’s true nature.

He had lived a long life and seen all sorts of human trash, but this one was different.

He wasn’t completely insane.

But was he mentally sound?

Not at all.

He was an opponent whose next move was completely unpredictable.

As he chased this Skar bastard through the dark alleys, he felt a wave of nausea.

He had seen his fill of blood, guts, severed limbs, and decapitated heads, so those sights didn’t faze him, but this bastard’s strange and vicious schemes shook his very soul.

Even thinking rationally, it was difficult to figure out why the barbarian was acting this way.

He would show up alone without a proper weapon and then just run away.

Then he would enter an alley and brutally murder his subordinates.

Saul thought the barbarian had run away again afterwards, but he instead had returned to the tavern.

If it weren’t for the intermediate-rank explorer, the rat beast-person Pointed-Tooth, whom Saul had hired this time, he wouldn’t have had a clue where this barbarian had disappeared to.

The more Saul saw, the more it felt like he was staring directly into the darkness of the labyrinth.

Saul drew his single-edged sword and shouted.

“Ben, Pointed-Tooth! Kill that bastard!!!”

The rat beast-person with his daggers and the bald man with his longsword stepped forward.

Saul, the bald man, and the rat beast-person surrounded Jeong Yoo-shin in a triangular formation.

Jeong Yoo-shin stood still with his arms crossed.

No one made the first move.

The bald man and the rat beast-person had already witnessed Jeong Yoo-shin’s martial prowess.

Saul had realized the extent of Jeong Yoo-shin’s skill while passing through the alleys, and on top of that, he had exhausted himself mentally by overthinking alone, so he wasn’t in his right mind right now.

Jeong Yoo-shin observed Saul.

His slicked-back hair was disheveled.

Cold sweat trickled down his forehead.

His eyes were also darting around strangely.

Jeong Yoo-shin looked at the bald man and the rat beast-person, and then raised his hand and pointed at Saul.

“Ben, Pointed-Tooth.”

“…”

No one answered him, but they didn’t attack either.

“I don’t know how much Saul paid to hire you, but I’ll double it. Kill Saul right here.”

“…”

“That’s a lie!!!”

Saul shouted, spitting.

“Do you think that son of a bitch will let you live?!!! After you pointed your swords and shot arrows at him?!! Yes!!! It’s a trick to divide us!!!”

Saul pointed out, his eyes bloodshot.

Jeong Yoo-shin looked back and forth between the bald man and the rat beast-person, then raised his finger and twirled it next to his head.

“Look at him. Look at him foaming at the mouth and dripping with cold sweat. Who’s the crazy one? Me, who’s talking to you calmly? Or that elf wearing human skin?”

Grrrind!!!

Saul gritted his teeth.

Jeong Yoo-shin shook his head and spoke.

“You two have to make the right choice.”

A lie.

He was going to kill them all here. No exceptions.

Jeong Yoo-shin, who had lied without batting an eye, smiled faintly.

His hair, slicked back with blood instead of wax, shone chillingly.

At the same time, he exuded a bewitching aura.

The bald man spoke.

“I can’t believe you. Maybe if it was before the fight… Don’t mock people with such empty words.”

At those words, the rat beast-person tightened his grip on his daggers.

Jeong Yoo-shin licked his lips.

The time limit was 30 minutes.

The one he had to kill first was…

The bald man, of course.

Since that bastard had sealed his mana, it was only natural.

Jeong Yoo-shin uncrossed his arms, drew an arming sword, and slowly walked toward the bald man.

“Hey. There’s no need for us to fight like this. Let’s do this the easy way. What’s the point of shedding more blood here?”

The bald man raised his sword.

“If that were the case, you wouldn’t have used a barrier magic scroll. Don’t come any closer.”

“Tch.”

Jeong Yoo-shin clicked his tongue and lowered his arming sword.

The expressions of the bald man, Saul, and the rat beast-person hardened.

It was because Jeong Yoo-shin had taken a low stance.

He had lowered his sword, leaving his upper body completely exposed. In front of three opponents.

It was an attitude that clearly looked down on them.

“I’ve never seen such an ill-mannered barbarian.”

The bald man growled.

Jeong Yoo-shin stood still with his eyes half-open.

Tension slowly began to rise between the three men and Jeong Yoo-shin.

“…”

His opponents changed their stances and quietly observed him, trying to find a weakness.

A hair-trigger moment.

Jeong Yoo-shin spoke.

“Come.”

A calm voice, different from before, echoed through the barrier.

As if possessed, the men charged at Jeong Yoo-shin.

From the front, Saul’s single-edged sword flew toward his head.

From the left, the bald man’s longsword slashed at his waist.

From the right, the rat beast-person’s dagger aimed for his arm.

Jeong Yoo-shin stepped back and swung his sword.

The dagger first.

Because it was poisoned.

He swung his sword and parried the rat beast-person’s dagger.

Klaaaang!!!

He immediately stepped to dodge the incoming longsword slash and raised his sword to receive Saul’s single-edged sword.

An exchange that happened in an instant.

The rat beast-person charged again. He ducked low and swung his dagger.

The bald man swung his longsword, aiming for the mid-section, while Saul persistently aimed only for the upper body.

Legs, torso, head— they aimed for various parts of his body.

He didn’t know where they had learned it from, but their coordination was good.

Jeong Yoo-shin swung his sword.

They weren’t easy opponents.

However…

They were nothing compared to the tentacle bastard he had fought in the passage to another world.

A nightmarish bastard that had swung dozens of tentacles at a crazy speed while aiming for him from head to toe.

When he thought about that desperate struggle.

‘This is nothing.’

Klaaaang!!!

Klaaaang!!!

Parry. Deflect. Thrust.

Sparks flew as blade met blade.

Jeong Yoo-shin swung his arming sword while weaving between the three men.

Sometimes he would hold a firm stance and perform the swordsmanship his master had taught him.

Other times he would tap dance frivolously and swing wildly.

Cold sweat began to pour down the three men’s foreheads.

It felt like their minds were about to snap.

They couldn’t even begin to guess what his next move would be.

“Fight properly!!!”

“Stop fighting like a fucking piece of shit!!!”

High praise poured in.

Jeong Yoo-shin swung his sword and spoke.

“Thanks for the compliment. You don’t know what’s next, do you? Feels like you’re going crazy, right?”

“…”

“That’s what I want.”

“…!”

“I’ll spare you. Surrender.”

“R-Really?”

The rat beast-person asked.

“Of course. Do I look like a man who would go back on his word?”

“It’s a lie!!!”

The bald man shouted hysterically.

“That bastard is going to kill us all!!! Look at his eyes!!!”

The three men looked at Jeong Yoo-shin’s eyes.

Eyes gleaming with killing intent.

Jeong Yoo-shin scratched his head.

“It’s because I haven’t been sleeping well lately.”

The three men gritted their teeth and charged again.

Shouts and curses mixed as the glint of blades flashed wildly.

Jeong Yoo-shin, who had been swinging his sword, corrected his stance.

‘There’s no time.’

The barrier would disappear soon.

‘I have to end this quickly.’

“Hwaaaak!!!”

“Ptui!!!”

Jeong Yoo-shin spat a wad of phlegm in the face of the rat beast-person he was clashing swords with.

Splat!!!

“Huuhk!!!”

The rat beast-person, startled, closed his eyes and stepped back.

Jeong Yoo-shin spun like a top, parried Saul’s single-edged sword, and immediately faced the bald man’s longsword.

Klaaaang!!!

Screeeech!!!

Jeong Yoo-shin and the bald man were immediately locked in a power struggle.

Jeong Yoo-shin opened his mouth again.

The bald man’s eyelids trembled. Was he going to spit again?

But his prediction was wrong.

Shank!!!

A switchblade shot out from Jeong Yoo-shin’s boot, shattered the bald man’s shinbone, and embedded itself deep within.

“Kuaaaak!!! Y-You treacherous—!!!”

The bald man screamed and stumbled back.

It was a strike so despicable, it made one’s jaw drop.

He had never imagined such a move would come from a swordsman of outstanding skill.

“No!!!”

Saul and the rat beast-person screamed and swung their weapons, but it was too late.

Jeong Yoo-shin’s sword sliced off the bald man’s head.

Slice!!!

The headless body of the bald man knelt on the floor.

Jeong Yoo-shin immediately cast a spell.

[Sacred Weapon]

[Half-Ogre Gauntlets]

The next one was the rat bastard.

He swung his sword.

An upward slash.

The rat beast-person desperately crossed his daggers to block, but it was useless.

Klaaaang!!!

The daggers broke, and the rat beast-person’s arms were thrown high.

The rat beast-person desperately jumped back to dodge the sword.

Jeong Yoo-shin was about to thrust his sword but stopped.

“What…?”

The rat beast-person had a blank expression.

But the barbarian, who had been about to thrust his sword, didn’t move an inch.

His stance was already broken.

Jeong Yoo-shin switched his grip on the arming sword and threw it, piercing the rat beast-person’s solar plexus.

A divinely inspired, off-beat attack.

Thwack!!!

The rat beast-person’s eyes widened, and he slid backward before kneeling and bowing his head.

Blood trickled from his mouth, soaking the floor.

Instant death.

With a single move, the balance was shattered in an instant, and ruin followed.

One person left.

Jeong Yoo-shin turned his head and looked at Saul.

“Saul, you’re the only one left.”

“Why!!! Why, for fuck’s sake?!!!”

Saul shouted, the veins on his neck bulging.

Jeong Yoo-shin tilted his head to the side.

“Why? What do you mean? You’re the one who started messing with me, didn’t you? You guys are the ones who messed with someone who was just working hard in the labyrinth. Do you think I’m dealing with scum like you because I’m crazy?”

Saul, who had been screaming like a madman, suddenly regained his composure.

“You’re doing this just because a few insignificant nobodies were killed? Skar, you fucking idiot, I’ve lived a long time after getting my Humanization imprint, and life is short. Things like good and evil are meaningless.”

Saul held out his hand.

“Join me. With your strength and my brains, we can rise to the top of Labyrinth City!”

Jeong Yoo-shin shook his head.

“No.”

“Fuck!!!”

Saul’s face contorted, and he swung his single-edged sword hysterically.

His stance was already broken, his will shattered.

It just looked like a desperate struggle.

[Sacred Weapon]

He swung a golden longsword and cut off both of Saul’s arms.

“Kraaaaaah!!!”

Saul screamed and stumbled back.

“It’s over.”

“Fuck!!!”

Slice!!!

The golden sword severed Saul’s neck in a single stroke.

Jeong Yoo-shin didn’t want to talk to the pathetic bastard any longer.

Saul’s head flew into the air, and his body collapsed to the floor.

Jeong Yoo-shin slowly approached Saul’s head and picked it up.

Clink.

The barrier made of a black membrane shattered.

Inside the tavern…

Jeong Yoo-shin raised his head and looked around.

Over a hundred men stood there, clutching their weapons.

Were they all Saul’s subordinates?

Their appearances and expressions were varied.

If he had met them on the street, they would have been fleeting encounters.

If they had become friends, they might have shared a few short stories about their lives.

Should he kill them?

It seemed like it would take forever.

The tiresome wheel of slaughter.

What should he do?

Should he kill them all?

He didn’t know.

He decided to wait and see.

Jeong Yoo-shin placed Saul’s head on a nearby table and patted it once.

Then he found an intact chair and sat cross-legged.

He folded his hands neatly and closed his eyes.

“Let us all meditate. For our precious departed. Asurabalbalta.”

“…”

A cool silence fell over the tavern.

Jeong Yoo-shin spoke with his eyes still closed.

“If you run, you die. If you move toward the door, you die. If you breathe too loudly, you die. If you take a shit, you die. If you swallow your spit too loudly, you die. Stay still.”

Some of the standing men dropped their weapons and fell to their knees.

A few pissed themselves.

“…”

As if possessed by something, Saul’s subordinates stood quietly while watching Jeong Yoo-shin.

In the suffocating silence, Jeong Yoo-shin continued to meditate.

Until the morning sun rose.

[Translator Notes]

T/N – Sorry for disappearing on you guys. A week prior, my aunt died.

I’ll be back to my usual schedule now but I need some time for the chapters I owe you guys. I had to help with funeral arrangements, so I wasn’t able to stockpile any chapters. I’ll make it up to you guys next month.

Thank you for your understanding. (9/29/25)

Damn. That was a good fight. I like the evolution of the MC’s fighting style. I laughed a bit at the tap dance thing. It also shows that his madness is also affecting his style, which, coupled with his now-polished sword skills, makes him an unpredictable and deadly opponent. I also like the callout to his fight with the Sweeper. Really shows how the MC improves after each life-or-death struggle.

I also found the frustration of the three against the MC pretty funny. They were the ones ganging up on him in a 3 vs 1, and they were also using underhanded stuff like poisoned daggers and Magic Seal imprint, and yet they have the gall to tell the MC to fight properly?

Lastly, see, Saul really was a 3rd rate villain. The others already hinted at him to avoid the MC, and yet he still goes for him despite no one willing to back him up on it. And that last ditch speech was pathetic as well.
