Adria and her companions fought relentlessly, refusing to yield.

“Can you all keep up?!”
““Yes!””

The Lamias attacked relentlessly, forcing them into a desperate struggle, allowing no room for error.

Even though the enemies were countless, they fell one by one before their combined might.

“Stop squirming!”

Elisha, at the heart of the battle, froze the ground around them, the chilling aura emanating from her fingertips spreading across the earth, trapping the Lamias’ feet.

“Immobilizing them is just the start.”

She smirked, drawing complex patterns in the air. Massive ice pillars erupted from the ground, launching a group of Lamias into the air.

“Elisha! I need backup on the right!”

Melina called out, firing volleys of arrows as she swiftly changed positions.

“I’ll help you!”

Eilly dashed forward, her blade flashing, drawing blood as she cut through the Lamias.

“Good! Keep it up!”

Melina’s encouraging words seemed to energize Eilly even further.

She moved with renewed vigor, deflecting enemy attacks and striking with precision, her calm and decisive actions a beacon of order amidst the chaos.

“Hyaa!”

Meanwhile, Varis was engaged in a fierce battle on another front. Two large Lamias lunged at him simultaneously.

“Just a couple of big oafs!”

He blocked one Lamia’s attack with his greatsword and pushed the other away with a powerful shove, the impact shaking the ground and sending the monster tumbling.

Without pausing to catch his breath, he parried another attack.

“Hah!”

Varis inhaled deeply and raised his greatsword. His heavy blow shook the ground, sending up a cloud of dust, a devastating attack.

“I can’t just stand by and watch either.”

Melina, seeing everyone’s valiant efforts, declared, as if unwilling to be outdone.

She raised her bow, her gaze sweeping over the battlefield. A blue aura gathered at her fingertips, the wind swirling around her, growing stronger as she drew the string, a green arrow materializing in her hand.

“Oh Great Spirit of the Gale, heed my call.”

The air trembled, and a whirlwind enveloped her, her hair dancing in the wind.

“Breath of fury that echoes through the silent sky, sweep away all obstacles and purify my enemies!”

She took a step forward, and the glowing green arrow soared into the sky.

As it reached its apex, it exploded in a burst of energy, splitting into multiple projectiles.

“Kuh!”

“What the—?!”

“Gah!”

The arrows rained down like a storm, the air swirling, the wind’s roar deafening the enemies.

“Let’s keep pushing forward!”

Adria, at the forefront of the charge, led the others onward.

Their advance was swift and unstoppable. But just then, a massive shadow emerged from behind the Lamia ranks.

“Professor! Up ahead…!”

It was three times larger than the other Lamias.

“Professor Adria, that one looks different!”

Elisha called out. Adria clicked her tongue in annoyance.

“It’s probably trying to disrupt our formation. But the fact that they sent out such a large one means we’re definitely a threat!”

She gripped her sword, flames igniting in her other hand.

“I’ll take care of that one! Cover me!”

The giant Lamia roared and swiped at Adria with its massive claws.

She leaped to the side, dodging the attack, but the impact cracked the ground, sending shockwaves rippling outwards.

“Annoying human!”

But she couldn’t dodge the next attack. Adria raised her sword, imbuing it with magic, and blocked the blow head-on.

Sparks flew as the weapons collided, a powerful shock reverberating through her arm.

“Kuh!”

Her sword trembled in her numb hand. But she couldn’t retreat. Flames flickered around her hand, caressing the blade.

“Flame Enchant…!”

A crimson glow enveloped the blade, radiating heat. Small flames flickered along its edge, gradually spreading, engulfing the entire sword.

A holy fire, as if yearning to vanquish evil, surged forth.

“Fire Blade!”

The sword blazed with intense flames, the crimson inferno dancing along the blade, distorting the air around it with its heat.

“Burn!!”

Adria lowered her stance and swung her sword with a powerful, sweeping motion. An explosion of flames erupted from the blade, engulfing the enemies before her.

“Gaaaaaaaaah –?!!”

The largest Lamia, caught in the fiery blast, cried out in pain.

“Amazing -”

Varis muttered, watching the spectacle in awe, and followed close behind her.

“To think she could use fire magic like that…”

Elisha also commented, her gaze fixed on Adria with admiration.

“Huu.”

The flames subsided, and the giant Lamia lay defeated. The fiery blast had also inflicted heavy damage on the surrounding enemies, incapacitating many.

“Tsk, it never ends.”

But the battle wasn’t over. More Lamias were still pouring in from behind, and now, stronger, faster enemies began to appear.

“They’re probably waiting for us to tire out.”

Varis said grimly, raising his greatsword.

“We don’t have the luxury of getting tired.”

Elisha replied, beginning to draw a new magic circle.

“We don’t have time for that. We’ll break through by force. Follow me!”

The endless battle tested their limits, but their determination burned brightly. The fighting would only intensify, but they were confident of victory.

◇ ◇ ◇

“Your Majesty, we have a problem.”

Deep within the quiet forest, a Lamia reported to her queen.

The queen tilted her head, her tail swaying, a curious glint in her eyes.

“What is it?”

“A group of five powerful humans is overwhelming our forces.”

“They seem to be aiming for Your Majesty, pushing deeper into our territory.”

The Lamia Queen smiled, an air of composure and arrogance about her, her expression one of confidence, not bravado.

“Oh? Is that so? And how is the situation progressing?”

“Our forces are trying to stop them, but they’re stronger than we anticipated, and it’s proving to be quite a challenge.”

“Especially the woman with the flame-enchanted sword. She’s cutting down our troops with ease.”

The queen slowly stroked her chin, her eyes narrowing slightly, as if she needed to take the situation more seriously.

“Instructor Adria…!”

The captured academy instructor muttered a name, seemingly recognizing her.

The queen, noticing his reaction, flicked her tongue, curious.

“Do you know her?”

“I-I won’t tell you!”

The instructor refused to answer, his jaw set.

But the queen smiled sinisterly, as if she already had a good idea of who Adria was.

“It seems she’s quite skilled.”

“Send word to the front lines. Tell them I’ll handle it myself. And to minimize unnecessary casualties, tell them to avoid engaging and just maintain a defensive perimeter!”

Her forked tongue flicked through the air.

The Lamias became even more frantic at the news that their queen would be joining the battle, and the academy instructor swallowed hard, his eyes squeezed shut, dreading the ominous future.

◇ ◇ ◇

Adria and her companions pushed deeper into the Lamia territory, cutting down their enemies one by one, their combined might a force to be reckoned with.

Their battle, a symphony of fire, ice, wind, and steel, was a spectacle to behold.

They moved in perfect synchronization, supporting each other flawlessly, their teamwork impeccable.

“Everyone, hold!”

But amidst their smooth advance, Adria sensed something amiss and called out. They stopped and looked around, their senses alert.

“Professor? This is…”

“I don’t know. But don’t you think they’ve stopped attacking and are just surrounding us?”

Her words made the others realize the same. The Lamias’ behavior had changed.

“Hiss -”

“…Heehee.”

They were no longer attacking, just encircling them, their numbers growing, forming a massive perimeter, but their hostility seemed to have diminished.

“What are they planning?”

Adria muttered, sharing her unease.

“What are they… preparing…?”

“Something’s definitely not right, Professor.”

They all felt it, the Lamias’ diminished aggression, their gazes less hostile, almost pitying.

“Guys, wait… something-”

Before Adria could finish her sentence, the air grew heavy. A brief silence followed, and then the sky darkened ominously, a strange, tearing sound echoing through the air.

“What’s happening?”

Elisha, still unaware of the impending danger, looked around warily, drawing a magic circle.

Rumble—!!!!

Suddenly, an explosive heatwave engulfed the battlefield.

A massive inferno descended from the sky, the crimson flames swirling like a vortex, consuming the earth, their heat threatening to incinerate everything in their path.

“Scatter–!!”

Adria’s desperate cry was barely audible above the roar of the flames as they swept through their ranks.

Eilly managed to dodge by rolling to the side, but the flames grazed her feet.

“Ah?!”

She quickly kicked off her shoes, her quick thinking preventing further injury. If she had hesitated, her body would have been reduced to ashes.

“…! Pure crystal of ice-”

Elisha tried to summon an ice barrier, but it melted instantly, leaving her exposed.

“What’s going on?! This isn’t… ordinary magic! Ugh~!”

Melina hurriedly raised her bow, trying to suppress the flames with wind magic, but the flames only grew stronger, consuming the wind.

“What is this?!”

Varis also cried out in confusion.

Just then, a massive silhouette emerged from the heart of the inferno.

“Huhuhu.”

Red scales shimmered in the light, and flowing hair danced like flames.

Her massive staff resonated with each step, her presence filling the air, the temperature around her both chilling and scorching, like the gates of hell.

The space around her crackled with crimson flames, the fire at her fingertips pulsing rhythmically, like a living heart.

“Quite impressive, for humans.”

Her voice was low and resonant, like molten lava churning deep within the earth.

“Who… are you?!”

Adria shouted, and the others were speechless, the figure before them the embodiment of disaster. Her sinister laughter and sharp gaze filled them with dread.
