Juho’s eyelids fluttered.

This frail being, from a distant world, lacked the strength to break free from Amy’s grasp.

Even with his enhanced strength, thanks to Alraune, he couldn’t move.

But I had unwavering faith in Juho. His eyes, one day, would burn as brightly as the sun. Perhaps even brighter…

Even if the entire universe mocked and ridiculed him, I saw a resilient rainbow blooming within his heart.

Amidst a maelstrom of emotions, emotions I couldn’t express with human language,

Or even with my vast vocabulary,

Juho’s breathing slowly returned to normal.

“…Doctor.”

Amy, the humans’ creation,

The female bio-weapon, released Juho’s lips and spoke, her voice soft.

“Please listen to me. Your relationship with Isaac is clouding your judgment. My actions were for your own good.”

Her words were cold, clinical, almost devoid of emotion. While Juho felt betrayed and enraged, Amy simply listed the advantages of her decision.

“The spiders are approaching. And they would have used Isaac as a hostage to negotiate with you.”

She wasn’t wrong.

Amy had simply taken decisive action, thinking several steps ahead.

“You would have agreed to their terms, prioritizing Isaac’s safety over your own. This would have significantly decreased both your chances of survival.”

As she spoke, three spiders entered the cave. They seemed confused, unsure of what had happened.

But it didn’t matter. They were already dead.

Zzzap-

Amy’s laser beam eradicated them, their bodies dissolving into nothingness. This time, to ensure their demise, she had separated their heads and torsos.

“…”

Juho’s eyes, wide with shock and disbelief, watched the scene unfold. Amy continued, trying to reason with him.

“Doctor, I regret that I couldn’t save both of you. But your survival takes precedence over Isaac’s.”

But Juho remained silent.

While he appeared calm, I sensed a storm raging within him.

“Do not underestimate Isaac’s disability. Considering his condition, your compassionate nature, and your relationship, both your chances of survival were minimal.”

That was why I watched Juho, why I cared for him. While he appeared weak and fragile, I saw an infinite potential within him.

This planet, however, wasn’t suited for him.

He was like a delicate flower, raised in a greenhouse. He would have thrived in the human world, achieving great things.

But this world was different.

A single mistake could be fatal,

A brutal ecosystem ruled by the law of the jungle.

“…”

And yet, I cared for Juho,

Because I believed his inner strength, his unwavering spirit, could change the world.

I had once believed that individual strength and ability were paramount. Abstract concepts like compassion and empathy couldn’t change the world, and the universe always bowed before the undeniable force of [truth].

But now, I wasn’t so sure.

Perhaps, just perhaps,

The salvation we sought-

◇◇◇◆◇◇◇

“Amy.”

“Yes.”

“Can you let me go now?”

Juho’s voice was strange, a mixture of resignation and suppressed rage. And his gaze was fixed on me, not on Amy. His eyes, dark and intense, like the sun, could now see [spiritual beings] like me.

“…Yes.”

Amy hesitated, then released him. She had realized he wouldn’t attack her.

“Doctor, I understand. You are understandably distraught over Isaac’s death. But I trust you will eventually understand that my decision was for your own good.”

She prepared for battle, expecting the spiders to attack in a desperate, final assault.

But Arachne and the two remaining spiders hesitated, unwilling to enter the cave.

Outside, a different story was unfolding.

But we had to focus on Juho.

He stood up, his body swaying slightly, and

Knelt beside Isaac’s lifeless form, his lower body completely severed.

“…Doctor, please remain by Isaac’s side. I will eliminate any potential threats.”

Amy, showing a rare consideration for Juho’s grief, gave him time to mourn. Humans, regardless of their choices, needed time to process their emotions.

But contrary to Amy’s expectations,

Juho took Isaac’s hand and said,

“There’s no need.”

His voice, though weak, held a firm resolve. I couldn’t understand the source of his strength.

Even Amy, the human bio-weapon, seemed taken aback by his sudden change in demeanor.

“Doctor?”

Juho looked up at Amy,

His eyes filled with a complex mixture of grief, rage, betrayal, sorrow, and guilt.

“If Isaac dies, I die too.”

His words, so calm, so quiet, belied their intensity…

Juho was truly special.

He made foolish decisions, acted impulsively,

But when it mattered most, he remained true to himself, his convictions unwavering.

“Doctor, what are you-”

“Isaac isn’t dead yet. He’ll die soon, from blood loss and shock, but he’s not dead yet.”

Juho began administering first aid. Alraune, merged with his body, released a sticky, viscous substance, trying to stem the flow of blood from Isaac’s wounds.

But even with our combined efforts, his chances of recovery were slim. The human body was incredibly complex, and even minor injuries could be fatal.

“So, I’ll kill myself. It’s okay. You did your best.”

“Doctor!”

Juho, despite knowing this, refused to give up on Isaac. He poured all his energy into trying to revive his friend’s cooling body.

“That is an illogical decision. Your current statement is not based on rational-”

“Yes, I know.”

Juho could now see the flow of spiritual energy.

His eyes, enhanced after several near-death experiences, could see Isaac’s soul, fading like smoke.

“But I don’t care. Based on your rational judgment, a human like me, disobeying directives and acting impulsively, also has a significantly lower chance of survival.”

Juho continued his efforts, trying to prevent Isaac’s soul from escaping. He even produced a small amount of honey, laced with painkillers, and placed it in Isaac’s mouth, just like Alraune had done for him.

And Isaac,

Clung to life.

Or rather, he was prevented from dying.

“Then shouldn’t you just kill me now?”

“Doctor, that is a logical fallacy. You are currently the sole survivor of the Paradise-”

“And that sole survivor, will kill himself, the moment Isaac dies. Right here, right now. You can’t stop me.”

Amy stared at him, her eyes searching his. They stood on opposite sides of Isaac’s broken body, their gazes locked in a silent battle of wills.

“…Doctor, please calm yourself.”

“You know I’m calmer than I’ve ever been.”

But Juho was in control now.

The bio-weapon, capable of calculating the most efficient solution, capable of executing it without hesitation,

Couldn’t find a way to counter Juho’s resolve, her gaze shifting between him and Isaac.

“D-Doctor, please calm down. Your stress levels are exceeding normal parameters-”

“I’m telling you, I’m perfectly calm, and I’m serious. If Isaac dies, I die. You can’t stop me. I’ll just produce a toxin within my own body.”

Amy only had one option.

“…”

To keep Isaac alive, for as long as possible.

But his injuries were too extensive, the blood loss too severe, and

Amy, despite her superior capabilities, hesitated, unable to make a decision.

“Why don’t you think about it logically?”

Juho spoke, his gaze fixed on Isaac.

“The chances of saving Isaac are close to zero, but not zero. But if he dies, I will kill myself, right here, right now. Right in front of you.”

It wasn’t a decision an ordinary being could make.

Juho was impulsive, emotional,

But he was also capable of making the most irrational decisions, his convictions unwavering.

“The probability is one hundred percent. What will you do?”
