It was instantaneous.
The man could only blankly watch his comrades being brutally murdered in just a few seconds.
Movements that far surpassed human judgment.
He couldn’t comprehend it, so he didn’t even think about counterattacking.
That was out of the question.
Even Roland, who boasted of being the best fighter in the organization, couldn’t stand a chance against the uninvited guest who had appeared out of nowhere.
One by one.
Blood dripped with each step.
The man in pitch-black clothes, indistinguishable from the shadows, was truly no different from a grim reaper.
Thud!
“Grrgle…”
The last remaining comrade also died with a gurgling sound of froth.
The pistol he was holding fell to the floor in front of him.
“Don’t do anything stupid.”
At the chilling words, he immediately raised his outstretched arm toward the sky.
===
In a corner of the armory he had entered like that.
The man swallowed dry saliva as he looked at the bodies of his comrades neatly piled up beside him.
He was surprised by the sight of three burly men being turned into corpses in an instant with a blade less than a span long.
He was doubly surprised by the sight of the corpses being cleared away as if it was nothing.
It was clear that he had gotten entangled with the wrong person, even if it was a mistake.
Those who made a living out of killing people.
They were undoubtedly murderers for whom justification or cause had no place in their actions.
Indeed, when he turned his head again to look at the assailant, eyes that seemed to freeze the air just by making eye contact flashed.
The man cleanly erased the contempt he had harbored in his heart.
He had to hide it even more because the other party was a butcher of humans.
At least he had to live.
“Affiliation, purpose, and number of personnel.”
“We, we are called the Revolutionary Front.”
Revolutionary Front?
Werner’s eyes narrowed.
It was definitely a name he had heard before.
He pondered for a moment and soon recalled that it was a name he had heard a long time ago during a political education session at the officer training school.
Before the unidentified enemy called the Titans, who had come from who knows where, threatened the entire human race.
Chaos never stopped in the world.
Countries glared at each other, and within those countries, various forces were engaged in a chaotic struggle for power.
Even now, it was no different.
The President and the Emperor.
The Eastern Military District and the Supreme Command.
However, before the Titans appeared, the Empire had even more complex political interests intertwined than now.
The Imperial faction, represented by the Emperor, the Nationalist faction, represented by the President, and the People’s faction, which inherited the ideology from the far west, and the Revolutionary faction, which had a slightly different concept from the People’s faction.
In the end, the ultimate winner was the Nationalist faction, and the President, who was the leader of the Nationalist faction, succeeded in pushing the Emperor, who was the most powerful force, into the back room.
In the process, quite a large number of nobles, who made up the majority of the Imperial faction, had to give up their real power.
If this was the case for the Imperial faction, the strongest force, the fate of the People’s faction and the Revolutionary faction, who didn’t even make it to the semifinals, was obvious.
Annihilation.
Of course, just before the President wielded his sharp blade against them, the war with the Titans broke out.
Just managing the front lines was overwhelming, so there was no time to pay attention to the treatment of the Revolutionary faction.
In a way, the Titans had saved them.
But now that those Titans had disappeared, it was time to settle the past that had not been properly settled.
The Revolutionary Front was a representative extremist faction even among the Revolutionary faction.
“The purpose is… to assassinate high-ranking military officers, including the Eastern Army Commander. However, I, I am just a low-ranking member! I had no choice but to participate because they were holding my family hostage…!!”
The man, scared out of his wits, spilled even his family affairs.
It wasn’t particularly nutritious information.
However, Werner still had one question remaining.
Why the Eastern Military District?
The Nationalist faction, centered around the President, had clearly confronted the Revolutionary faction.
Then wouldn’t it be more effective to carry out a terrorist attack at the Supreme Command or the capital?
‘I can find that out gradually.’
For now, he couldn’t learn too much here.
Werner drew his gun and pointed it at the man.
Even just pulling out a gun after using a knife until a moment ago was a bluff.
But from the standpoint of having a gun muzzle shoved in his face, he couldn’t even think about that.
“Oh no! Please, I beg you! Please spare my life at least…!! For the sake of my wife and children who are waiting for me like rabbits…!!!”
The man immediately prostrated himself.
“If you want to live, tell me who is involved.”
“Th-that’s…!!”
Click.
Werner pulled the slide of the pistol.
The man trembled like an aspen tree at the sound of a bullet being pushed into the chamber.
“I’m sorry! As, as I said, I am also a low-ranking member, so I don’t know everyone! At most, it’s just those three and the soldiers who will come to get the weapons tomorrow!”
“Hmm.”
It was a bust.
Werner swallowed a groan.
After all, it had been a really long time since he had harmed people in this way.
Human greed did not stop even in the midst of a battlefield where hundreds and thousands of people died in a single day.
Military procurement corruption was child’s play.
There were also higher-ups who went crazy and demanded strange things when young men and women were collectively conscripted.
It was one of the reasons why the Empire had been helpless against the Titans until the quantum computer Akasha was developed and supplied to the entire military.
The shitty stars with only shit in their heads.
Werner knew their ugliness all too well, so in some cycles, he had lived the life of a vengeful ghost.
In the process, the weaknesses of those bastards that he had discovered had reached a level where he could later soak them all up without getting his hands bloody.
Heinrich Rendal, who was in charge of the Eastern Military District, was stubborn and liked formalities, but he wasn’t that much of a villain.
That was why he hadn’t taken any special measures, and that was also the reason he was trying to prevent the terrorist attack that was about to happen.
If he had been a shitty star, he would have taken off his military uniform long ago.
“Then let’s do this. You said your family is being held hostage?”
“…Y-yes!! That’s right!!”
“Then there are two options. One is to die here. The other is to cooperate with me and wipe out those Revolutionary Front bastards.”
“Of course the latter!!”
The answer was quick.
He was going to take his time again, but there would be no next chance, so he was definitely quick-witted.
“Anyone joining you additionally today?”
“Ah, no…! We’re originally the guards here, but we told our friends that we’d be drinking all day at work… So there’s no one on duty today except us.”
This was insane.
The military discipline of the Eastern Army Command had fallen to the bottom and even pierced through the mantle to reach the outer core.
Even if it was a festive atmosphere, they not only failed to maintain the basics but also didn’t hesitate to do things that could even be referred to a court-martial?
He would bury this sin all at once later, but for now, Werner made the man stand up.
“Your name.”
“Dane, Dane Schmidt.”
That’s how Werner unexpectedly gained another local collaborator.
Whether to kill him or not would have to be considered a bit more.

Knock knock knock.
“Yes~~! Leave it in front of the door and go~~!!”
Lea Gilliard didn’t leave the full-length mirror even at the sound of someone knocking on her room door.
That was because it was a masquerade ball.
As it was a banquet she had never even attended before, Lea was in high spirits.
She had a lot of interest but no opportunity.
She couldn’t be lucky enough to hold a banquet when even her survival in tomorrow’s operation was uncertain.
Especially since she was under a fortress commander who maintained a negative stance on banquets.
“What could that person be doing now…?”
The face that suddenly came to mind.
Luthers Edan.
According to what she heard, he had completely disappeared after retiring from the military.
Arwen unni had cursed that he had gone into seclusion for fear of his corruption being exposed, but Lea thought that Luthers wasn’t really that bad of a person.
He had a more prickly, annoying, and irritating side than others.
And his appearance was also exactly her type.
“…”
Lea, who had been lost in reminiscence for a moment, soon slapped her cheeks and exclaimed.
“Old ties are old ties! Don’t keep succumbing to such things! Today is the day to set out to find my destined partner!”
Lea Gilliard’s main interest was, of course, men.
Of course, it didn’t mean that she was promiscuous.
She had always dreamed of a fairy tale-like love since she was young, so now that the war was over, she was going to chase that dream with all her might.
She would like the appearance to be moderately sharp, prickly to others but warm to her, tall and handsome, manly and reliable, and to appear coolly and save her in a moment of crisis….
The list of criteria was endless, but that was just an ideal type, wasn’t it?
Even if it wasn’t to that extent, she might be able to meet a somewhat nice person.
It was also the reason why Lea was looking forward to this masquerade ball where people from all over the country gathered to socialize.
“But in the end, this is what suits me.”
The one Lea chose after repeatedly putting on and taking off clothes was the red dress she had worn at the last disbandment ceremony.
No matter how much she thought about it, there was no outfit that suited her better than this.
Lea Gilliard smiled contentedly as she looked at her reflection in the mirror.
It also went well with the provided red cat half-mask.
The second lieutenant had a white cat, the first lieutenant had a red cat, and the captain had a black cat.
She heard that field-grade officers and general-grade officers had masks symbolizing different animals, and it seemed like it would be fun to see that too.
After finishing all the preparations like that, Lea opened the door of her room.
Placed in front of the door was a small letter.
“…Who is it?”
The content she carefully checked after breaking the seal of the letter was.
[Don’t attend the banquet today, Lea.]
It was a warning written in a scrawled handwriting that was difficult to recognize at a glance.

Honestly, all the talk about faction and politic stuff was gone over my head. My single braincell can’t keep up lmao
What I don’t understand is how the Akasha super computer and the regression works. It seems to me that no one has memories of regression except for the protagonist, due to the supercomputer. But it says that the supercomputer was distributed to the front lines, so wouldn’t every commander have access to the regression power?
It seems that only MC had the power to use regression on himself and others. Which is odd since he was only a fortress commander and not a high starred general managing the entire front.
My guess is that the super computer, Akasha, is like Dr Strange with the infinite possibilities, and calculated to only give MC the power of regression since that was the only way to win against the titans.
I hope it’s something like that. If not, that would be a huge plothole in the story.
Don’t overthink .
It’s like a computer at every home with its owner. Also maybe he can sync his or scan his memory through it
But Lea will go 😂. I don’t hate her
